Songs I Never Need to Hear Again

You know the songs: the ones that are played on classic rock radio over...and over...and over. The same songs get into the rotation and never seem to leave. Usually, a great song is run into the ground.

So, here is my list of songs that I never need to hear again. This doesn't mean I think the song sucks...just that I can't really take it anymore without the grave desire to gouge my own eyeballs out with a spoon.

AC/DC - "You Shook Me All Night Long"

The Eagles - "Hotel California"

George Thorogood - "Bad To The Bone"

Golden Earring (or White Lion) - "Radar Love"

The Rolling Stones - "Angie"

Tom Petty - "Refugee"

And lately...as much as I hate to admit:

Poison - "Talk Dirty to Me." The Boneyard has absolutely played the living hell out of this song. It's getting to the point where I click the dial when I see this song pop on the display. Poison has a fairly deep catalog - play something else!

Do you agree with my list of overplayed songs? Give me your list.

I agree with all the songs you mentioned, I can not agree with Poison.....it has take many years for radio sations in this country to accept some Poison songs as what they are, classics of Rock and Roll, this group like many of the glam groups had to take so much shit over the years just because of their looks, the macho thing couldn't accept that guys wearing make up can play great rock music and sell millions of records....so to me any Poison song played over and over its a good sign for all of us Glam fans around the world !!

I agree with your list except for the Stones I would put in Satisfaction instead of Angie.

Then I would add...
Deep Purple's Smoke on the water
Black Sabbath's Iron Man
Hendrix's Foxy Lady
Journey's Faithfully

All decent songs, but the radio overplayed them.

Europe "The Final Countdown" and anything by Rush. Why the hell do they play Rush on Boneyard anyway? Leave that crap to Big Tracks or somethin. I'm not sure if I have ever heard a Junkyard or Every Mother's song on Boneyard, but hear Rush once a day at least!!!

Agree with the list for the most part. The radio station I listen to never plays 'Talk Dirty to Me' (or White Lion's Radar Love..) though. I wish it would.

For me, the worst is Sweet Child o' Mine. Argh!
In fact, the entire album is played ptto death.

Van Halen's Jump is another particularly frustrating one.

Paranoid is the Sabbath song I think is played out.

Stairway to Heaven, obviously, and Black Night/Smoke on the Water are both over played.

Songs that can never be overplayed include Doctor Doctor, and Balls to the Wall.

And yeah, I don't play Talk Dirty to me anymore, I play Nothin' but a good time every day, have for months ( as in, play along ) and I am still not sick of it. The first bar or two of that solo is just superb. I can't play it without striking a pose :P

I am getting frustrated with Hair Nation on Sirrius. they play the same "popular" songs from the same artists constantly. Poison's "Talk Dirty, Something to Believe in, etc...; Ratt's Round and Round, Wanted Man, Cinderella's Don't know what you got, Nobody's Fool, etc... The lists are endless. I wish Hair Nation et. el. would play these artists, but add a lot of their obscure songs to the rotation. It gets redundant.

Guns and Posers - Welcome to the jungle

I think your list is right on. I would add:

Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Freebird" & "Sweet Home Alabama" You'd think Skynyrd didn't have any other songs.

Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead or Alive" & "Livin' On A Prayer"

Hi Allyson...I have to say one of the most I hear all the time is Great White's "Once bitten twice shy"..They have so many great songs and that's the only one they play over and over...Also..I love this song too..but Kix's "don't close your eyes"..Love the song..but it is on all the time..HAHA!!.

All they play here is
Boston
Led Zeppelin
Foghat
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Heart
AC/DC
and a bunch of random other 70's bands.

They play those bands all day everyday. Same damn songs too. The only time you hear any good glam band or even remotely 80's is if i call in and request it. but half the time they say they don't have it.

Allyson, you should really get your own radio station goin. You would get an ass load of viewers.

oh my God Allyson. Every song on your list I agree with.

I'd also like to add Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, Unskinny Bop by Poison, Final Countdown by Europe, Sign of the Gypsy Queen by April Wine, We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister, and ANYTHING by Ted Nugent!

I have heard Edge of a Broken Heart by Vixen on the Boneyard more than I can stand. Everytime I hear this song, I want to projective vomit at my XM Display.

I quit listening to FM radio a long time ago because of the constant replays of songs. When my XM radio broke, I was forced to listen to regular radio again. I realized that I didn't miss too much, by not checking it out.

I can play better stuff on my Ipod.

What Fletch said! I also listen to Sirius Hair nation daily, and I can almost guess what songs they'll play when they mention an artist.Every now and again they'll throw in some Sleeze Beez, Tyketto, or something of that ilk, but for the most part it's the same old same old.Def Leppard,Scorps,et al.These bands have vast libraries of songs, but you get the same 3 or 4 from each band each and every day.

Brown Eyed Girl by VM
Kiss Me Deadly by Lita
You shook me by ac/dc

Hendrix - Foxy Lady & All Along The Watchtower

Steve Winwood - Valerie & Back In The High Life (I hate these two songs)

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again & Is This Love

Pat Benatar - Love Is A Battlefield (playing right now!)

GnR - Sweet Child Of Mine

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama

Foghat - Slow Ride

This is just a quick list. The only stations I get are Classic Rock stations and, while I like 60s & 70s Rock, they are playing the same songs they did 25 years ago when I started listening. How many times do you have to hear 'Foxy Lady' before it gets annoying?

Growing up/living in the Midwest portion of These United States has forever stained our love of classic rock. Kiss, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Black Sabbath, Greatful Dead, Led Zepplin, Hendrix, The Doors, just to name a few....all completely overplayed, thus tainting how we think of them. Q95 (good god, I don't miss Bob & Tom...*at all*) is still one of the main fail machines in the area. It wasn't until I got the hell out and moved to a far different place that I realized I could go a day without hearing 'Stairway' and that it was *okay*. None of that stuff is bad, and I love most of it. Hell, I saw Rush on Sunday night and it was spectacular! But yes, radio ruined classic rock (and some not-so-classic, as you pointed out!) in certain markets. But again, now that I live somewhere else, I have actually started listening to some of that again *for fun*! And a lot of it is really good!

Reason #71251 I haven't listened to the radio since 1995...

Where do I even begin on this question..... Anything and everything by Metallica, Stone Temple Pilots, Led Zepplin, ACDC, The Doors, Lynard Skynard, Seether, 3 Doors Down, Creed, Nickelback, Tom Petty, System of a Down, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc, etc, etc.... The "rock radio" stations here in Cincinnati need to buy a clue. Im not saying these bands suck, but alot of them do, but my god thats ALL they play!!
