Steven Tyler Checks Into Rehab; Is Aerosmith Saved?
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 12:01AM I doubt any of us are surprised, but Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler is back in rehab. The story broke on People.com last night. I can't help but wonder if this rehab means Steven will get clean, healthy and back with Aerosmith?
Steven has struggled with addiction his entire adult life. People reports that the rehab is from an addiction to painkillers due to 10 years of performance-related injuries.
Apparently Steven suffers from chronic pain, which is basically awful.
People posted a statement from Tyler:
"With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford."
The very fact that Steven mentions his Aerosmith bandmates is curious. Maybe all the drama reported in the press isn't true. Then again, maybe it's a front. We'll probably never know for sure.
I guess the bottom line is that I hope rehab helps Steven and maybe through counseling Aerosmith can work out their differences. We'll see.

Anyway, I know we'll see Steven back on the stage with Joe, Tom, Brad & Joey in no time! That's where he belongs.
I quit them cold turkey about 2 years ago, and it was the worst week of my life. You literally are physically addicted to them, and you detox just like a junkie when you quit them. Here's hoping Steven kicks this for good, and gets his shit together with himself and then with the band. I for one am rooting for him!!

I'm b-a-a-a-a-c-k everybody! Sure did miss y'all! Metalboy's been flyin' all over from home to Orlando to NYC to Atlanta to Charlotte, NC back to Atlanta and then home. Even talked to a total babe college freshman last night at Atlanta airport wearing a vintage Aerosmith Tour T-shirt from '76 off the Rocks album.
Talk about Bringin' Back The Glam, Al, this girl was like 17. I'm tellin ya, folks, it's in the hands of the Heavy Metal Kidz to Bring Back Glam alive!

Let's hope that Tyler gets the operations he needs on his knees and feet and that they are as successful as the operation he had on his vocal chords back in '07 (is that year right?).
Anyway, I saw Aerosmith at Jones Beach on Long Island, an experience I wrote about here in the comments section of Al's old Aerosmith posts. Lemme tell ya, having seen 'em 5 times ( '75 off Toys,'76 off Rocks -- Yes!, '79 off Nights,'81 off Rock In A Hard Place sans Perry but with Crespo and actually really pretty good and lastly, '07 off something not memorable but really incredible), Tyler sounded better than he has in years, and Perry has been quoted as also saying as much.
Let's hope all of these operations get rid of the pain and he is back a struttin' and a gallopin' just like the daze of yore but change it up from "daze" to days.
We might just get our "Rocks II" yet. In fact, I'm willing to bet it's gonna be the next album. They won't title it that, but that's what it's gonna be...

P.S. As I said in the previous post I was flyin' all over h*ll (that is another name for the eastern seaboard when a snowstorm hits around the holidaze)) and everywhere I looked, particularly in NYC, there was every indication that Allyson's cause to Bring Back Glam is in full effect. At every turn in every store, literally high and low (price and designer wise), from the Gap to the National Jeans Company to Barney's New York, to Saks Fifth Avenue, to American Apparel, to Juicy Couture (sorry, that store is generally crappy), to Bergdorf Goodman, to Bloomies, to Old Navy, to Ralph, to Target, to Scoop, etc., etc., etc., Glam was everywhere... Glam Rock, Glam Metal, you name it, over half of the stuff in the boutiques and over half the stuff in the kid's departments at the department stores, chix and guyz (age 10 to 35, even more so in the Cub's, Puma's and Cougar's sections, hahaha!!!), were just ram jam with stuff like black sequined hot pants (they had so much of this kinda stuff, Lambert woulda found his size, hahaha!!!... YIKES!), "vintage" AC/DC shirts, Zep shirts, Aerosmith shirts, Motley shirts, Def Lep shirts, as well as Lipstick style '80's peg leg jeans by Seven and Joe's, Spandex, purple Boa vests,'70's style stack heels, '80's black boots a la our faves Vixen, Silver and Gold lamet jackets and purses, Gold and Silver sequined purses, the woiks (as they say at L'Mour in New York)! Now don't think I'm goin' Lambert on ya (not that that's a bad thing) or American Psycho on ya (that would be bad), that I notice all this kinda stuff, no siree, I'm all eyes and all mouth (does that really surprise ya) when I'm not wearin' my Metalboy! suit during the day and posing as a bookish yet loveable nerd with black horn rimmed glasses, cheap *ss Harris Tweed Jacket from Joseph A. Bank (hahaha!!! whoa, I'm killin' myself with this stuff), and tryin' out my comedy act on hot shop-a-holic teeny boppers and Puma's (sorry, no Cougars... not in Metalboy!'s repertoire) while my sometime so-called NYC blondie girlfriend (who's about to escape my clutches since I won't date anyone over 35) tries on clothes. Of course she took me for about 850 smackers in clothes including a killer "real vintage" Dolce & Gabbana Red/Orange wool winter coat replete with Cheetah print lining that I would guess was from the mid-nineties before those clowns started goin' all cheezeball on their designs. It actually had a pretty classic cut and fit this chick like a glove. As we walked past the vintage consignment shop on the Upper East Side (go figure, NYC is so glammed out there's as much cool stuff up there right now as there is downtown, swear to god -- STG! The style of the coat looked right in the Glam pocket as it appeared to have phazered up from about '83 or somethin'. Of course, I had to leave town broke before I was able to convince her to do a couple of snow angels in Central Park wearing nothing but her new Holiday Prezzie and her birthday suit (okay, gold lamet thong, too, if you're a puritan, hahaha!!!) and silver Gooch heelz (okay, not the best in snow, but believe me, she wouldn'ta cared, I was layin' it on so thick). Bon Voyage, kid, and I ain't talkin' Ship Rocked!... we're talkin' ice boat with my frozen stare as, sorry honey, you've just reached your expiration date...
and that may sound chauvinist, ladies, but ya gotta realize, her fatal flaw is the fact that she's buddies with Liz Phair and is too way grunged out for Metalboy! even though she's a dead ringer for Patty Hansen (a trend if you have any retention of my previous posts). But a real Glam Pretender who just doesn't get it and by "it", I mean the Motley/Sabbath/Zep Axis of Evil. Oh, yeah, she cost me another "G" in fancy dinnerz and brunches, too boot, but what the h*ll, I'm a glutton for punishment. Hey, but I did get to hold hands and suck face with the kid a little bit without makin' the first move and hopped into a cab before she started wanting to have pillow fights at The Standard Hotel, hahaha!!! As you can imagine, when it starts gettin' dark and the sun starts to go behind those big tall buildingz, it's time to for Metalboy! to do something other than babysit some U2 freak (even if she does look totally Rock & Roll)... and you can guess what that might be... That's when it's time for Metalboy! to ROKK all nite before hanging upside down like some kinda Silver and Gold lamet cloaked Bat for a coupla winx o' shuteye. Cheerioz, Metal Kidz! And, no, Kenny Ozz, I didn't get the new Danger Danger as I'm a total lame-O, however I will order it 2nite, now that I'm back in the sun and fun of Southwest Florida for awhile. I so missed everybody while I was jumpin' from town to town. That frickin' snow grounded my a*s somethin' fierce and cost me several G's in De-icing fluid out at the airport. Geez, that stuff dries out your skin. Now I gotta coat myself in raw avocado and go run and swim on the beach.
So glad to ditch the sequined stack heeled boots for a while and just go bare hoofed right now.
