Kix to Play Sweden for First Time

"We never rule out anything, especially if we can get direct flights! If other things get tabled, we all have passports and wouldn’t rule out any reasonable solid offer."
That’s what bassist Mark Schenker of Kix told me yesterday when I asked him if the band would be playing more European dates this summer. Kix will play their first Scandinavian performance ever as part of the Stockholm Rock Out. That festival runs April 30 - May 1, 2010.
I talked to Mark about the Stockholm festival for Noisecreep but felt like I’d share the best part with you guys. After all, we’ve all been together a long time and we ‘get it,’ you know?
So here’s a direct question and transcription:
BBG!: Can we expect a full-fledged Kix tour this summer in America (with, *cough* Cinderella perhaps)?
MS: "We are playing M3 Festival in Columbia, MD with Cinderella and Scorpions - we are really looking forward to that, it’s home turf for us and we are excited to see the other bands. We have not been asked yet, but Kix and Cinderella would be a simply smashing ticket for hard rock fans. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to see Cinderella? When we played Rocklahoma the year before last, we saw Fred [Coury, Cinderella drummer] play with Lynch Mob and he is just a terrific player and was great to watch. I heard third party that Tom Keifer is singing better than ever which is very exciting news, so if some shows are offered, or a string of dates are offered, I would say we would have to seriously consider it."
In case you’re wondering, Kix hasn't played Europe since just after the Blow My Fuse tour. That means right around 1990 or so. In my Noisecreep article, you’ll read about why the Kix boys are so excited to play Sweden, what they hope to see there and also some inside info on that new live album I exclusively told you about way back in September of 2008.

Going this Saturday night to see me Funny Money only ten bucks a ticket
I've seen 'em like 20 times already and I assure you, they'll be one of the best bands, if not the best band to take the stage at Stockholm Rock Out, though, it is such an incredible line-up of bands, regardless.
Man, I so want to go to see that show, and as far as I can tell, the scene seems just so incredible there, I am almost ready to book a one way ticket and just hang out there for awhile to see all the killer Swedish bands play, too!
Where do you live now? I'll just come there and do it, hahaha!!! And then we will travel to see some of these shows over there, cuz you know where the playahz are playin', my bruddah!

I know, I know, sheer bloody poetry!
Since it seems like bassist and mastermind, Donnie Purnell won't ever rejoin Kix, the band he created and wrote nearly all of their material for, why couldn't he at least take on the roll of Brian Wilson with the Beach Boys in the late 60's through to '76 or so, when he would write a lot of their material but wouldn't perform with them.
Or if they absolutely couldn't get him, maybe they could try writing with the guy Purnell worked with sometimes and had him co-write with him some of the stuff on the Kix multi-platinum selling album, "Blow My Fuse".
That was outside writer John Palumbo, former leader of the acclaimed 70's act and another Baltimore fave, Crack The Sky. (They may have been considered local, but Crack The Sky's debut was voted "Debut Album of The Year" by Rolling Stone magazine in '75)
Now, I bet that would rock!
