I Want to See Orianthi in Concert!

I've written about Orianthi before. Half of you agreed she rules and the others couldn't get past the fact that she sings pop songs while shredding. Last night, Orianthi performed on American Idol and I was reminded how much I'd love to see her live. It's not even about the singing - it's about watching her hands move on the fretboard. Fantastic!

I just checked Orianthi's website - she's only got a couple live dates planned and neither is near me. In case you're interested, she's playing University of Illinois (Champaign) on April 12 and the Hangout Festival at Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 14. I actually really would love to attend Hangout but three festivals in as many weeks just isn't possible, even for the Glam mistress!

I've been wanting to post the video of Orianthi with Steve Vai for awhile but something always comes up or I get distracted. The clip is great - the song is "Highly Strung" and Vai looks and sounds great here. I'm a fan or harmonics - and I hope you like the song, too.

Tomorrow on Bring Back Glam! a review of the new Bullet For My Valentine album, Fever!

She certainly has some chops. I haven't heard much of her stuff yet. I wonder if she was copping the Vai type licks because she did the track with him or if that's how she plays. Still, she's good.

I have to admit, I had hear of Orianthi, but not heard her play until watching American Idol last night....amazing! While I dont really care for the pop song style, seeing her play and watching this video with Vai speaks for itself..what a talent! Rock On!

The video of her song According To You has the neck of the guitar in the forground half the video and its amazing to watch it. Got to admit i haven't heard that kind of guitar on a pop album in a while and defintly hope more is on the way.

I've always forgiven Stevie Vai's posing because he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. But it's hilarious to see how obsessed he is with a fan blowing his hair-every piece of live footage I've seen for like the past decade has his hair just lightly blowing back. Maybe his fingers are just that nimble, they create a vortex around him...but then why doesn't Yngwie look like he's riding in a convertible all the time? lol.
