Britny Fox Reunites, Readies New Album

I received a surprise Friday night press release on Britny Fox... this news surprised me for sure!

HOLLYWOOD, CA (April 24, 2015) – BRITNY FOX has returned from a long hiatus fully charged and ready to rock! The band is currently writing for a new album, and plans to book and perform select dates only at this time.

In late 2014, Billy Childs reunited with former 2007 manager/tour manager, Wayne “Doobie” Dubay. Childs and Doobie reunited with vocalist/rhythm guitarist, Tommy Paris, and original Drummer, Johnny Dee. Due to commitments, original lead guitarist, Michael Kelly Smith has been replaced by lead guitarist, Chris Sanders. “How can I tell you how great it is to be back with these guys, and working on a new album? It is fantastic,” explains Billy Childs, bassist. “Johnny and I basically grew up in this business together and the tightness we have had over the years as a rhythm section is still there- Tommy Paris hasn't lost a step, lyrically or vocally. Chris is a breath of fresh air for the band, and adds elements that were never there before, but very much in line with us as we prepare to bite down even harder this time around. Doobie is the guy that pulled us all together and said "get your heads out of your asses and make another Bite Down Hard". He's pretty big, so best just to agree with him! For other reasons as well though, we all agreed it was time.”

The band is currently in studio writing and recording a follow up to the BITE DOWN HARD album – This musical jewel is a definite game changer on the classic BRITNY FOX sound that originally exploded in 1988. BITE DOWN HARD is a much harder rock tone featuring Zakk Wylde and Rikki Rocket. Rikki performs a percussion solo with Johnny Dee on the "Midnight Moses" track and Zakk plays the lead guitar outro on "Six Guns Loaded". "It's awesome playing with Billy and Johnny again - Chris fits right in perfectly with us freaks,” exclaims Tommy Paris, lead singer. “The new songs are ass kicking, fun, heavy rock!  It's a great time hanging out with Doobie, writing new tunes and putting a new show together!  Can't wait to get back out on stage!"

BRITNY FOX comprises of Tommy Paris: Vocals/rhythm Guitar, Chris Sanders: Lead Guitar, Billy Childs: Bass and Johnny Dee: Drums. The band has sold close to 2 million in sales world-wide and charted on Billboards Top 10 for both Girl School and Long Way To Love.

Whoa! THIS is LARGE! I've been waiting for this for a VERY long time... To hear why listen to "Bite Down Hard". It proves life can go on without Dizzy Dean! "Six Guns Loaded", indeed!

Good to hear it, Ripper! I just listened to the album again, the first time in like 2 years. Anywho...

Metal Factoid: In case you didn't know, Tommy Paris is formerly, Don Jillson who was the lead singer of the legendary band "Jillson". A first press of their album, 1990's "Deadly Girl" trades for upwards of $350.00 and is highly regarded as one of the most collectable CDs among traders. In fact there's one on Ebay right now with a "Buy it Now" of $349.

Fortunately, for us mere mortals, the CD has been rereleased and those reissues go for around $18.00.

Or just check it out on YouTube if you haven't already heard this gem.

p.s. You'll appreciate a very tangential Aerosmith connection, Al... Don Jillson, er... um... Tommy Paris (then Jillson) also had a band (after Britny Fox) with Jimmy Crespo, the guitarist who replaced Joe Perry when he split Aerosmith. There's even more trivia... Even Tommy Paris and a couple of the others as the backing band for that Counting Cars dude.

Awesome news, i was wondering why they werent doing this. No MKS, no DD, no problem, BDH was a classic cd and probably their best, imo. Cant wait to hear their new stuff, and see em live again!

Now we just need their old tourmates, The Wild Boyz, to reunite! Unleashed!!!

You wanna go deep into the vault??? Who else here can claim to have the side project that tommy paris and johnny dee did after Britny, entitled "Uncle Edna", in which they even donned (pun) KISS style make-up?

I am looking forward to this, but I hope it's nothing like Springhead Motorshark. That disc was just, well, terrible. The rest of their catalogue is stellar. Their first three discs are part of my "go to" music when I'm on the treadmill and I'm hoping to add a 4th.

Yeah, Springhead Motorshark was garbage....aside from the one track, "Pain".

Bite Down Hard was very good but for me it would be better news if Dizzy was back. Ive seen both versions live a couple of times. I just prefer the original lineup with Dizzy. Where the fun is out in Texas. Girlschool brings back many memories. Ratt Britny Fox and Kix was a killer show. Dizzy is playing some music i really didnt care for right now so i doubt it ever happens. Now theyre missing Smith too. I will def check it out hope we get some good music out of it.

Talk about "Bring Back Glam"!

This is unequivocally the Biggest News out of The Glam Metal World in years!

badland: Dizzy had a post-Britny release, Electric Rattlebone, which, too me, has stood the test of time, but suffered what many other bands suffered at the time- coming out when the musical climate was shifting. It was a later-Cinderella, early Black Crows vibe and interestling features Cinderella keyboardist, Rick Criniti on guitars. I kinda wished Dean stuck with this formula after Britny, as I agree with you, that I couldn't get into his later outputs, but heaven knows I tried.

One of my favorite, old school, back-in-the-day rock and roll memories: Cinderella and Britny Fox at the "old" Wildwood Convention Center, circa August 1986. By comparison: New convention center: 260,000 square feet; Old center: 18,000 square feet.

Side note, years earlier that that, when I was into WWF wrestling, and while on vacation, I used to hang out with other kids outside the center and met several old-school wrestlers; Bob Backlund, Gorilla Monsoon, The Wild Samoans, Killer Kahn, King Kong Bundy, "Classy" Freddie Blassie, and many others. ah, memories...Nowadays, I'm taking my one son (mext week) to the M3 festival and I occasionally take my other son and his friend to the new PPL center for WWE- they love that sh*t- I can't begrudge them about the wrestling, though, as I obviously was, too, at their age.

Aaaaah, Wildwood! I went down there every Summer from the late 70s until I moved to California in '97. Wildwood used to be an amazing area to catch shows. Fletch, remember the block that rocks? I hear it no longer exists. I guess they're trying too hard to appeal to the upscale crowd these days and took all the fun out of the area. do the bars even stay open until 5AM anymore?

Dizzy quit the tour in Europe, opening up for Joan Jett. I mean, seriously, was it "that" hard? Joan fu*king Jett???

to those who pay attention, we'll see you at M3. you're welcome ally.
