M3 Festival Announces Bands

A reunited RATT, KIX and Loverboy will headline. The festival will take place April 28 and 29 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. This lineup doesn't do much for me. I've seen all these bands, with the exception of Loverboy and Vain and they just aren't worth flights and hotel. I'm sure it will be a fun weekend regardless. Here's the poster:

So what say all of you _now_ about attending? Just curious, given that I am interested in shows like this. As time goes on, my bucket list keeps getting shortened, both by events I attend and check off and by circumstances (death, disbanding, corporate vanilla-izing, etc.) that are out of my control.

I mean, I like Loudness and Kix. Tres Ratt would be cool if I hadn't already seen them in full sprint a few years back before the implosion (with a humble Crane doing a great job). Not sure I need to see Tom Keifer pulling a Bret. Nor have I ever said: "Hmmm, what will a lack of electricity add to the sweet sounds of Lita?"

I guess what I am asking is this: again, for those who have attended, is the event itself worth the lineup? Appreciate some thoughts.

I REALLY like the lineup and that's what makes it worth the cost of flights, hotels, etc. In my opinion, this is the best festival for '80's glam rockers.

i enjoy festivals like this, and the lineup looks great. but the trouble and expense of getting there can be a beating to see 30 minute sets when most of the bands will come to town eventually anyway.

One step closer to the Pooson Ratt Dokken 2017 tour. Maybe Cinderella too

I go every year, and i'm excited for the new parts of this line up. Vain & Dangerous Toys are great additions! Throw in Junkyard (their "new" single from last year Faded smokes) and Baton Rouge and that's 4 new bands for the fans that return every year. Hell, even Loverboy and Malloy. We needed new blood.

Pumped for the real Ratt as well, and glad there's no fake Ryche.

I figure Boltz's lips will be chapped by next week from kissing all the ass he attempted to kick to the curb when his "Bobby Blotzers Experience" became "RATT" virtually overnight. I look forward to the drunken social media rants and raves that are no doubt about to cascade from him once his ass kissing proves fruitless. Karma sucks Blotz, and it always wins in the end.

There is a 3rd day added this year. On Sunday there is a classic southern rock show headlined by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Also on the bill are Molly Hatchett, Black Stone Cherry, and Blackfoot!

I'm there on RATT alone, but JUNKYARD, DOKKEN (Please tell me that's gonna be with Lynch and Pilson!), DANGER DANGER and VAIN all in the same night?! Done and done!

To answer your question HIM (again!), by all means, you should go! But go VIP! Especially now that they've announced this excellent line-up without any of that Brett Michaels, TeSLUG, Night Ranger and Queensryche crap! You get close to the stage and you've got access to the VIP deck where you can hobnob with the bands while imbibing your favorite cocktail.

Also, the M-Pre Party has always been great (if they're still doing it) for showcasing new bands and is in itself usually often worth the trip to Maryland alone!

And let's organize a Bring Back Glam! Picnic for Saturday where lots of hilarity will ensue, especially if Badland, Jack T. Ripper, Kevon and certain other BBGer's who shall remain nameless show up!

I hope you're still goin', Jack!

We can raise a glass to honor the passing of your heroes!

Cool to see Dangerous Toys and Junkyard still going strong. I completely forgot that Junkyard was still putting out new music; will have to catch up on that. I've still only seen three of these bands; they ARE three of my favorite live acts, but that means I'd rather watch longer sets among smaller crowds. I don't see myself actually making the effort to go to this, but it always intrigues me nonetheless.

I do like those Southern rock bands...

Thanks for the follow-up answer, Metalboy! I know you answered me before. But I wondered if this line-up changed any of what you said. Seems it didn't. So I have to give some serious thought to going, as others on here sound pretty excited about the festival.

Obviously i will be there and think Friday night is great! Never seen Loverboy or Baton Rouge. Really excited to see Baton Rouge!!

Yes, HIM I urge everyone to go...

KIX, Dangerous Toys (their guitarist nicknamed "Texas Tech" by the bass player in Toys is an absolute killer!) Station (great New York band of kids timewarped from the 80's) and Faster Pussycat on Friday.

RATT, Junkyard, Danger Danger, VAIN, Vixen, Bret Michaels (I mean, Tom Kiefer -- very funny, HIM, to me, his charm has worn off without Cinderella), Jack White and Dokken (can Don get a voice transplant plus George Lynch and Jeff Pilson by April?) on Saturday.

Sidenote: I know the promoters want to milk it for all it's worth with Redneck Day on Sunday, I just wish they had taken all the money they're gonna pay those Hick bands and give it to POISON or somebody on that level to beef up the headlining line-up on Saturday.

Of course, they could always get Tesla, hahaha!!! NOT!
