Rikki Rockett Gets New Kit For Poison Tour

Rikki Rockett is unveiling a new drum kit, just in time for the upcoming Poison tour this summer. More important than the drum kit is that Rikki looks great and he's 1 year cancer free. Enjoy the video below.

I hope they go deep into their music instead of the same old 6 songs, 2 remakes and a drum, guitar solo!!!!!

NOT using his own company's drums anymore? Not willing to :"eat his own dogfood?"

WTF Rikki...?

Can't wait to see em again, hopefully they dig out some more deep cuts along with their hits. I've only seen em once before but I really don't care for two solos and a few covers.

Now if he could just learn how to play the damned things!

My understanding is that while he was being treated for cancer, his drum company was put on the back burner, and the employees left for other projects. I saw on poison's Facebook page that someone commented he hopes to revive it at some point.
I'm just glad he survived the cancer treatments.

Ace I was thinking the same thing - but I think Oper8n is correct - I remember reading the same thing and didn't think about until I read Opr8n's post that Rikki put the drum company on hold during the cancer battle which i am very happy and hopeful he has won. MB very funny ....

Rikki took a cue from Allyson and banned me from his website. Ah...all in a days work.

backstory: he was posting a bunch of pro-trump shit and I told him to stick to drumming. He wrote back that he would not be "bullied" by me (specific quote) and I wrote back that I remember all the times in High School where I was called gay because I "liked a fag band that wore make-up and wrote shitty songs, but still supported his band anyway". And then I rhetorically asked, 'And you think I'm bullying you for your trump worship?" Then, he banned me.

Fuck you, Richard Ream.

I'm thrilled that Rikki has all the signs of beating cancer. His drums were actually pretty good stuff, I'm just perplexed why he wouldn't play what he already has, from his own company. I play guitars I've owned for 35 years.. That's all. What Poison is missing is, any deviation in their set list , and... more than anything, at this point they need to "pull a Kiss" & try to step into the time machine & LOOK like Poison, when Poison was Poison...the Glam band. The won;t be making new fans, but they may be giving the ones they have, exactly what they crave.

Just my less than humble opinion. Hit it, C.C. !

*and one last thing... Rikki has a habit of abandoning his businesses:
R.I.P. "The Rockett Plant Recording Studios" , "Old Ghost Designs"- Clothing Company, and now "Rockett Drums."

All of which could have remained viable & thriving if he wasn't so A.D.D.

@Ace. LMFAO. I hear ya bud. I still have (and use) my first "good guitar", a 1974 all natural maple Strat. I Own a Jackson, another new American Strat.an Epiphone,a Breedlove acoustic, but I always end up coming back to "the girl that originally brought me to the dance" oh so many yeas ago. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yeah, even though he's STILL trolling, Jaggoff "Turncoat" Whiffer at least finally made a comment other than๐Ÿ˜‚โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚!

Still, I admit, it was a cheap shot toward Rockett. I actually like his drumming. Though maybe not technically brilliant, it is distinct, even if it is more style over substance. Who needs technical brilliance, anyway... Look at Neal Peary, supposedly one of the most brilliant drummers alive yet totally puts me too sleep. Same with Portnoy. What borefests.

I am SO glad Rockett pulled through his cancer, God Bless Him!!!

That way, we still have a "classic line-up" Glam Metal band alive and well AND touring.

Darktown... I think "Look What The Cat Dragged In" is a bada*s opener considering it creates the whole schtick of walking out on stage as though they just came in through the front door at dawn. It's the rest of the set that needs work...

As Dale Schmucker said, we don't need all those crap covers, except for "Rock and Roll All Nite", which they legit covered for the Rick Rubin produced soundtrack for the movie "Less Than Zero" -- Crappy movie, GREAT Soundtrack. Oper8n and I posted a cyber collaboration of one a few posts back, where he took a list of mine and advanced it into something far better.

Poison had a contest -- maybe it's still open -- where people can make a request to add to their playlist... Here's two I made... "Cry Tough" and "I Want Action".

MB: Cat dragged in, is a great song but like the last 10 times I've seen them they open with that song and the set list is basically the same after that song, haha. #1 Badboy would be nice to stick in somewhere, Look but you can't touch, Come hell or high water, Let it play, there's half a set list right there, lol!! I would go see them but so far they haven't announced a venue close by yet, which is strange to me.

That is a sharp looking kit!

It would be awesome if their setlist consisted of every song, in order, from every album, and Def Leppard played two songs.

@oper8n great idea I would sit in the cheap seats just to see that. Great posts one and all - awesome to see the love for Poison! Gary great story - I have a 74 Ibanez Destroyer I have hung on to that has great tone and really hot pickups - I bought it at get this Meniketti Music and Furniture in Oakland California always wondered if there was a relation to Dave and of course there was a huge Y and T poster behind the register. I am with you Ace I would think Rikki had a collection of great drum sets.

@Shawn Cool shit!! Both the vintage Ibby destroyer and the fact it most likely came from Daves relation. (Let's face it, Meniketti isn't too common of a name, and ya got it in the Bay Area๐Ÿ˜Ž) And I'm with oper8en and yourself on the whole Def Leo/Poison set split. Lol

As for my addition to the Poison set, I'd ask 'me to rip up a version of "Love On The Rocks" and let CC loose for a few extra bars during its solo. Even though it's basically just a rocked up inversion of the old "1,4,5 blues" shuffle, that song just fires me up. \m/

For Gods sake, please No bullshit covers, not the same exact set again. How about play the whole Look what the Cat Dragged in album. Then the hits off of Open up and Flesh and Blood. Then how about 1 off of Native Tounge, Hollyweird, Crack a smile and Power to the People. This might be their last Rodeo, those other albums deserve to be recognized. Please Stop with With squeeze Box, momma don't dance and what I like about you. The songs are fine But For the love of God STOP!!!!
