Steve Stevens Rocks My World

steve_stevens_memorycrash.jpgSeriously, I love Steve Stevens. He's best known for playing guitar for Billy Idol, but the man is so underrated. The sounds he can create with his guitar! Plus...have you seen his hair lately? So Glam...

Steve has a new album called Memory Crash. If you don't want to hunt down the physical version, you can download it right off iTunes for under ten bucks. The album is Steve's first in over a decade, featuring many diverse musical influences. You can hear some samples at Steve's website.

I take bass lessons every Saturday morning and this week my teacher passed along a nice magazine article on Steve. The peg was naturally the new album, but it also mentioned Steve's Grammy for the "Top Gun Anthem." Off to YouTube I went...and lo and behold I found the official video for the song. I had no idea such a video existed, but I think it's pretty cool. Watch for yourself.

Here's the video for "Sister of Pain" from the Vince Neil solo album Exposed.

**Why do you think Steve is underrated among other guitarists?

Being a guitarist, Steve Stevens has long been in my top 3 guitarists. He is technically excellent and has the 'flash' of the guitarists (that I don't especially like) - I have NO CLUE why he is underrated!? Probably because he is not a wanker with a huge ego?? Thanks for the article. A CD will I will have to buy.

Steve Stevens is a very talented guitarist. But my favorite project that he was involved with was when he was with Vince Neil, and they did an album called "Exposed". Great album! He really got the chance to show off his skills with Vince, and I also have his solo album that he released in '89 called, "Atomic Playboys".

Guys - I agree about Steve's contribution's to Vince Neil's first solo album Exposed. Again, I don't know why Vince never sings any of those songs when he does his solo gigs.

I've decided to add the video for "Sister of Pain" to this article since you all expressed interest.

You are exactly right, Steve is underrated. Not many people ever talk about him or even know about him.
But he is definitely a sick player. I love his flamenco material.

Steve is awesome, I suspect that because Billy Idol was more of a pop hit, that he didn't get the applause he deserved in general. Exposed was definately awesome, but so was his reunion album with Billy, and his playing on the Billy Idol Unplugged DVD, his solos CDs, etc, is always amazing.
