So A Guns N' Roses Reunion Is Imminent?

Some website called Dish Nation is reporting that Axl Rose and Slash have mended fences and a Guns n' Roses reunion tour announcement is imminent. I'm skeptical, of course, but the GnR Twitter sure has been sending out weird messages, so who knows. I'm not holding my breath...yet.

Original Line up ? cant see it happening.

This type of rumor certainly taps into a certain strain of fandom (think Led Zep) that desperately wants something they won't get even if they do get it. Get it?

I was happy--and reviewed as such--with the GnR that did the Vegas residency. Some were not. Others are happy with Slash and his merry band of conspirators. Still others like Adler when he is on the wagon and slamming on all the cylinders he has left. Duff is a consummate businessman and an occasional collaborator with both Slash and Axl. Izzy does his thing on his own time. And then there are those who got drawn into GnR's initial orbit before it all imploded: Sorum, Clark, Reed (still an Axl employee so far as I know). All doing what they want.

So what would we gain if this comes to pass? Again, think Zep. Probably not what we wanted, at a premium price, for a host of reasons that trump "giving the fans what they want."

Would I go? Probably. But, like that boozer you see at every show, I would have to squint and/or close one eye just to get the sense that what I was seeing was in any way as good as what these rumors suggest might happen.

Use Your Illusion, indeed.

Even with original 5, I'm not there. I know I'm in minority here. This band captured lightning in a bottle up through the "Live/Acoustic" EP. It was magical how these guys wrote an album on par with Zeps IV & Back In Black. After, they became calculated, delusioned and rightfully disintegrated.

They will try, many will go. They will make boatloads of cash. A generation of 80's folks will gladly fork over hundreds just to help them remember between 1986-1989. Their memories are fuzzy and therefore will gush over this epic event. I won't and don't need to. It's over Johnny.

Go see Judas Priest.

Both post are great. Love how you both ended them! I don't think I'd go see them either, now after all these years of BS from Rose. When I saw Slash two years ago in Baltimore, it was THE best show I'd had seen in a long time. That band was spot on with the Gunner's songs and they also were relevant! Great mix and Slash was utterly amazing. I was so close that I could see him sweating. If The Gunners tour, I would be nose bleed watching a video screen, paying loads of money for food and beer. I will pass too.

Would I go to this? Depends on the line-up, price and location and. if only for nostalgia reasons in order to take my son to see a "gnr" show. Also, I would definitely read the reviews first and if Axl was up to his usual shenanigans, then I'm out...even if they booked their tour in my rock room. I'm too (dare I type) seasoned to continue on, dealing with his bi-polarisms.

Instead, I am actually looking forward to this week-end and some more bonding time with son in tow: Land of Oz (Ozzy tribute) tomorrow night. (who says it has to be original for it to rock-check out the 16yo prodigy on lead guitar- a randy rhoads incarnate indeed). And then, Britny Fox on Saturday with son in tow...again, who says that it "has" to be original for it to rock.

I'm supporting these acts. A GNR reunion??? ...I'll wait and see.

And with that, I think I am going to listen to some Cinderella: the more things change...

Kixchix - I'm taking your advice and seeing Judas Priest tonight actually. Third row seats (point blank, right MB?). Can't wait.

But I would see the original line-up. In a second. So, I'm waiting it out to see what may actually happen. And I know it would not be the same as seeing them back in the day, but it would still be a show worth seeing. I think.

I totally agree with Kixchix, who needs this? not me. I saw GNR twice...once opening for Alice Cooper and then again in their hugh football stadium tour with Metallica. They tore the roof off both times. They were truly a great band....then. I have no use to revisit them now. Axl cannot sing anymore. Plus there are too many still great bands touring today like Judas Priest, who still have the goods.

I'm with Rita on this. GNR in 2016 can never match the danger & excitement of the Appetite era. Even so, if this happens and they announce a tour, I'm all over it.

@HIM well said! You write so well love the way you ended it Use your Illusion! Because it is an illusion... I am not 21 and its not 1987 and my music that I love no longer rules the world. Hanging on to a dream that these guys might somehow reunite and resurrect the music industry is just a dream. As others have stated it will be the biggest cash grab ever and my god I have gotten cynical in my old age. I can see Adler falling off the wagon now halfway through the tour and Axl having meltdown after meltdown and this thing imploding disastrously.

Lucas Brian: watch a video screen. So true.

Fletch: as long as it rocks your right. A club show best bang for your buck. LAGuns a perfect example. $22 and they ROCK.

Rita: enjoy Priest. I was right in front row. Richie their new guitarist has energized this band. He stole the show and is easy on the eyes for the ladies. Great great great

Kixchix - Thanks. and I've seen Mr. Faulkner twice before and he has done exactly what you've said. I miss KK but he is a very good replacement. And easy on the eyes is an understatement lol.

Listen (no pun intended), these guys are the real deal.

You've all just said it... For HIM, Axl's version killed it in the Vegas Residency. For Brian, it was Slash killing it in Baltimore.

Then there's Adler, who's pounding those skins for his life like never before, Duff, who's always gigging, looking healthier than ever.

The only wild card is the reclusive Izzy but somehow you get the feeling he would be just as before because, if you'll remember, his only real heavy lifting was the songwriting -- and what songs they are!

Only Rita gets it completely right, which is why she and I are eloping to Vega$ where Elvis will perform the ceremony at The Hard Rock and G'n'R will be the band playing at our reception... Well, besides the 23 piece big band orchestra we'll also have there so I can serenade everyone with my flawless rendition of "New York On Sunday" by Bobby Darin -- I sh*t thee not, folks, I can nail it!

Remember the old adage, "The Whole Is Equal To The Sum Of It's Parts"? It could never be truer especially when it comes to a band of this stature as indicated by my BBG! compadres as listed above.

Like I said, these guys are the real deal and if this is the real deal, expect me point blank, front and center for the show of the century!

Note: I saw G'n'R in '86, '87 & '91, a total of 6 times.

W. Axl Rose
Slash
Izzy Stradlin
Duff "Rose" McKagan
Steven Adler

This is Guns N' Roses.

If these 5 guys get together for some gigs, I would definitely be 'interested'... however you would really need to be at the first or second show, because it wouldn't take long for Axl to start his "Make the audience wait 3 hours" shtick,, or for Adler to fall off the wagon HARD, or Izzy just plain loses interest and stops showing up; then you are back to a watered down version of this band with fill in guys, which is what we have has since Guns N Roses played their last ever show at Farm Aid in 1990.

I have no interest in seeing "GNR, dude!!" - meaning, if Dizzy Reed, Matt Sorum, Teddy Zig Zag, Buckethead, Bumblefoot, or any other fill in guys are on that stage, or if there is a piano within 10 miles of the venue.

We all know that that an actual Guns N' Roses reunion is too good to be true, because there are enough people who discovered the band post-1990, who simply don't don't "get it", who would be over the moon hearing "November Rain", "Don't Cry" and "Yesterdays" live as long as Axl and Slash are in the mix, to make a faux-GNR "reunion" highly profitable.

Hahaha!!!, Mike... So true, except when there's a billion dollars at stake, which is what this reunion will make (at least)!

Metalboy! Name the time and place and I am there lol.

I saw the original GNR in '88 on a triple bill with Deep Purple and Aerosmith; both of whom blew GNR off the stage. Yes, appetite was, and always will be, one of the greatest albums of all time, but please, these guys were not a consistently good live band. Not interested.

Saw em at The Troubadour in 86 (?) the all girl Feline opened up and truthfully were better than GnR..I walked out halfway through as my head hurt and visually I wasn't impressed.

I would like to say I wouldn't go, but I would be lying. I wouldn't hesitate to spend some of my private allowance (my wife is the COO according to her) and see these guys again. Would be worth it for November Rain. I could close my eyes and let it be 1992 again for one brief moment.

I've been reading these rumors for five years now. The first four years, every time rumors came up, everybody was for it. Now, nobody seems interested. Could it implode before the second gig? Yes. Can we expect the same bulls&!t that happened in the 90s? Yes. But think, Slash and Duff are sober and in great shape and can still play, Izzy is sober, but more or less the same playing wise, Adler claims to be sober, but can still play, and lastly Axl is Axl, you'll never know what's gonna happen, and it's always been that way. Yes they did capture lightning in a bottle with Appetite, did a cool EP, then put the icing on the cake with the masterpieces of Use Your Illusion 1 & 2. They're not gonna remake those albums or anything remotely close because musicians change. Think about it, is Paul McCartneys latest solo release on par with Abbey Road??? No, but it's good for what it is Is the newest AC/DC album making the same impact as Back In Black?? No but they're still filling arenas and the fans aren't complaining. Same with Van Halen, the new music, and newer live shows are different, but it still works, and it is still great in its own way. I think Guns N Roses could do the same as these bands/artists and amplify it to a bigger level, because let's face it...It's Guns N Fu&!#?G Roses!!! I'm there. I'm already standing in the cold November Rain to buy my ticket....
