Yikes!

I don't know where this came from... but Tommy Lee decided to tweet some old anger about Lars Ulrich the other day. Not too classy.

He should've posted a pic of Vince instead and written "Straight Outta Tune".

Snoot, I think both are funny. Thanks for the laugh to start the day.

Haha, Snoot! Thing is, Lee is right. Ulrich is an overrated pompous a*s. Tommy is probably only reporting what he heard. Still, as you point out, he ought to tell Neil to actually sing, not just mail it in.

Post of the day Snoot!!! Lmfao 👍

Tommy Lee . . . the Bobby Blotzer of Motley Crue. Stirring up old crap and making new messes. As Crue leaves the stage, he remains one dub-step behind the times.

Gotta hand it to you all, that was a series of rapid fire hilarity. Thanks for making my day. I bow to you.

I like to call Tommy "the worlds oldest teenager". He's "that guy" at a club full of twenty somethings.....

You guys raise a good point... I mean, what a stick in the mud that he won't do the meet and greets, especially since it's the last tour. What a punk.

"One dub-step behind the times" hahaha killed me HIM!! I don't know what the post is about, but I find it least interesting when musicians from bands stir up old sh*t from the past. Yeah I like to be informed as much as the next fan, but sometimes it is just ridiculous, thanks to social media, it is an everyday happening. Whether Tommy was being a di*k or not, it wont change the way I feel about either band.

Funny shit, Tommy! And so true, about the sad lil troll that once made great music. Lmao

Quick question: do you dismount your pommel horse when you write these observations bkallday? Or do you blink them out on your Google Glasses so as to not get chalk on your iPhone?

. . . and you know Tommy isn't here, right?

Sorry, i thought this was for our opinions. Has that now been altered? How, exactly, should i go about visiting this site now? Am i only allowed to post when i agree with all the haters? Please fill me in on all the details so i may do it right. Thanks in advance, moderator & overseer of this fine site!

Hmm. This is an interesting post for me (esp. after the one you posted re: wine). You actually seem a bit hurt. And, while that result has never been my intention (give as one gets, right?), it must be odd to shift out of brazen generalizations and into a muted form of indignation.

I won't go overboard. I just want to point out some things.

First, I have nothing to do with over-seeing this site. True, I am lucky enough to have been allowed to post a thing or two by Allyson. In fact, I even suggested you give it a try. If I misunderstood that implication in your post, my apologies.

Second, you have on occasion claimed the mantle of fact. Yet here you defend your right to post opinions (based in fact, I assume, since many are). Who has ever threatened to take that right from you on this site?

Third, and keeping with your shift to opinions, it seems a bit obvious that opinions will differ. But that does not mean that those who disagree are "haters." In fact, that assumption seems to weave through a lot of your posts: if someone challenges you, or disagrees, you assume that they hate the band you love or the opinion you present. I have never seen that as being the case. In fact, I have often pointed out places where you and I agree and you, to be fair, have on occasion done the same (if a bit less directly than I).

So here's the thing (and this merely repeats what I have said on numerous occasions): you post whatever you want because I can't and don't want--not to mention, don't have the ability--to stop you. If I agree and it strikes my fancy, I will respond in kind (cases in point: Slayer and certain aspects of Motley Crue). If I disagree and think you are wrong, or are being disparaging of women, or of wine drinkers (Allyson is one of them, don't you know?), or mangling accepted terms of art to fit your perspective, I will call you on it.

That's how a marketplace of ideas (and this is a fine one, filled with a lot of great people it would seem) works. Is it true that I would occasionally like you to admit a mistake or a transgression that stepped over the lines? Sorta. As I have said, you have pluck. I admire that. But you, and I, have both made mistakes or offended people on this site. I offended kixchix once. I bungled some facts in one of my reviews. Heck, I even referenced a lyric in a song and not the song itself in my post on Lep.

In my opinion, you note these sorts of things and you move on. As I see it, you ignore it and thrash about. That is your choice. But so is mine to respond for as long as Allyson sees fit to let me--all of us really--reply.

Don't feel as though you need to reply either. If it of your standard template, I already know the general tone. But at least consider what I said. I think, in all my dealings with you on this site, that I have at least met you on your terms even if I don't accept all of your particulars. And, again, in a marketplace agreement isn't necessarily one of the goals. But being heard is.

I hear you, bkallday. I really do.

We're just 2 different types of ppl, and thats fine by me! No hate here but i will always give my opinions, whether theyre unpopular or not.

Let's put it back in perspective, shall we, boyz? As clever as Tommy's post is, copping the "Straight Outta Compton" Parental Advidoryesque movie poster graphic with a word twist, he really should refrain from such a post as it's unprofessional and beneath him. Plus it just looks like sour grapes as Crüe, in essence, opened for Metallica at this show. Better to take the high road, Tommy, though you rarely do, unfortunately.

The irony is, Lee is probably completely right. Ulrich is overrated and a total jacka*s. I met him once and believe me, I know what I say!

p.s. And HIM, ease up on BK... I think he was being a bit facetious and sarcastic with some of his comments. Let's all be the good Metal Soldiers we are, shall we?
September 26, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Agreed, bkallday.

And agreed, Metalboy!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Only problem is, mine take up far too much space! Jonathan Swift I am not. And I would be at a loss if I ever decided to Tweet!

And ease up on HIM, BK... We are all one in Rock and HIM brings a lot to this Glam Packed Party! BTW... I forgot to mention, I met Tommy Lee at the front of the stage after they opened for Aerosmith at Jones Beach several years ago... Nicest guy then, even offered me a swig off his bottle of Jaeger (which I obligingly accepted, ignoring my dislike of the stuff). Too bad he seems to have reverted back to the jerkiness of his Pamela Anderson era.

Thanks to you, Metalboy!, I am again trying a new approach to posts that get my goat. Not sure it is working. But I am trying. My only baseline is that attacking Allyson makes no sense and is poor form. The rest of it? A bit more moderation, like I tried after the first of the year. So thank you for a reminder of moderation.

And again I agree: regardless quibbles on this site (and that is what most of them are, save the one noted above), we all share a love of metal music. That is what makes this site special. And that is what makes me thankful that Allyson continues to provide us this forum.
