Yikes!

I don't know where this came from... but Tommy Lee decided to tweet some old anger about Lars Ulrich the other day. Not too classy.

Gotta hand it to you all, that was a series of rapid fire hilarity. Thanks for making my day. I bow to you.
. . . and you know Tommy isn't here, right?
I won't go overboard. I just want to point out some things.
First, I have nothing to do with over-seeing this site. True, I am lucky enough to have been allowed to post a thing or two by Allyson. In fact, I even suggested you give it a try. If I misunderstood that implication in your post, my apologies.
Second, you have on occasion claimed the mantle of fact. Yet here you defend your right to post opinions (based in fact, I assume, since many are). Who has ever threatened to take that right from you on this site?
Third, and keeping with your shift to opinions, it seems a bit obvious that opinions will differ. But that does not mean that those who disagree are "haters." In fact, that assumption seems to weave through a lot of your posts: if someone challenges you, or disagrees, you assume that they hate the band you love or the opinion you present. I have never seen that as being the case. In fact, I have often pointed out places where you and I agree and you, to be fair, have on occasion done the same (if a bit less directly than I).
So here's the thing (and this merely repeats what I have said on numerous occasions): you post whatever you want because I can't and don't want--not to mention, don't have the ability--to stop you. If I agree and it strikes my fancy, I will respond in kind (cases in point: Slayer and certain aspects of Motley Crue). If I disagree and think you are wrong, or are being disparaging of women, or of wine drinkers (Allyson is one of them, don't you know?), or mangling accepted terms of art to fit your perspective, I will call you on it.
That's how a marketplace of ideas (and this is a fine one, filled with a lot of great people it would seem) works. Is it true that I would occasionally like you to admit a mistake or a transgression that stepped over the lines? Sorta. As I have said, you have pluck. I admire that. But you, and I, have both made mistakes or offended people on this site. I offended kixchix once. I bungled some facts in one of my reviews. Heck, I even referenced a lyric in a song and not the song itself in my post on Lep.
In my opinion, you note these sorts of things and you move on. As I see it, you ignore it and thrash about. That is your choice. But so is mine to respond for as long as Allyson sees fit to let me--all of us really--reply.
Don't feel as though you need to reply either. If it of your standard template, I already know the general tone. But at least consider what I said. I think, in all my dealings with you on this site, that I have at least met you on your terms even if I don't accept all of your particulars. And, again, in a marketplace agreement isn't necessarily one of the goals. But being heard is.
I hear you, bkallday. I really do.
The irony is, Lee is probably completely right. Ulrich is overrated and a total jacka*s. I met him once and believe me, I know what I say!
p.s. And HIM, ease up on BK... I think he was being a bit facetious and sarcastic with some of his comments. Let's all be the good Metal Soldiers we are, shall we?
And agreed, Metalboy!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Only problem is, mine take up far too much space! Jonathan Swift I am not. And I would be at a loss if I ever decided to Tweet!
And again I agree: regardless quibbles on this site (and that is what most of them are, save the one noted above), we all share a love of metal music. That is what makes this site special. And that is what makes me thankful that Allyson continues to provide us this forum.
