Sambora reunion?

Such reunion? BTW, does anyone know what has become of him? I sometimes wonder.

Anyway, congratulations to all the inductees. Well deserved.

Now let's cue the Bon Jovi bashing from the usual suspects in 5, 4, 3...

Will be interesting if they have a reunion with Such and Sambora and play together. Highly doubtful though. It will be good to see the original 5 onstage once again. Let the speculation begin on what they play!

I say:

1. Runaway
2. You Give Love a Bad Name
3. Wanted Dead or Alive

Jeff:

Spot on...well almost. I say:

1) runaway (It's what started the band)

2) the beginning of YGLABN, then into Livin' on a prayer (It's what made the band and JBJ says LOAP is the 'cornerstone' of BJ.

3) Wanted Dead or Alive. (JBJ just loves this song and plays it at whatever gala he can work it into.

Well deserved Bon Jovi. Screw the “reunion talk” bs. Sambora may and should show up cuz Jon needs his backing vocals and being an intergral part of the band till they went pop/country. I don’t care about that period. But to be honest, Bon Jovi is named Bon Jovi cuz of Jon. I believe Such has zero chance of being invited. Remember folks, Jon is embarrassed by the hair/glam-metal movement that we celebrate. I used to never think this way but he has every to be “above” most others. Quite simply because is songwriting, image and success blows all others out of water.

Sad for Judas Priest. I’m no music scholar but I never heard of a couple of inductees. JP deserved first ballot admission.

Good for Bob Jovi!

Pleasantly surprised that RATM didn't get in, considering the Hall Of Shame has had a hardon for Lolapalooza bands the last couple of years.

So ridiculous Bon Jovi will be inducted.

That said, I’m gonna guess they all talke the high road and the original line-up will play.

That is, if Bon Jovi can show the same level of CLASS Cheap Trick exhibited when they reunited on stage with Bun E. Carlos last year, an even that made all the difference as it brought back that strange “invisible extra member” sound experience that happens when original line-ups perform live.

It’s the “magic” that KixChix is talking about when Sambora would be singing back-ups and playing his signature guitar.

p.s. Great to see The Cars, a band with far more musical integrity than Bon Jovi get in.

I'm so happy that both The Moody Blues and The Cars made it in. I will never forget hearing the beginning strains of "Let the Good times Roll" back in 1978 for the first time. That dry guitar tone coupled with those almost futuristic, robotic vocals absolutely blew me away. it sounded so fresh and different at the time. I was hoping Priest would make it in, but to me, the big snub this time around is Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She was so far ahead of her time, and a true pioneer of the electric guitar. I am also surprised that Link Wray didn't make it in. He is the one who brought the electric power chord to the mainstream in 1958. His song "Rumble", an instrumental, was considered so controversial at the time because of its distorted electric guitar power chords that it was banned from some radio stations in the US. If that isn't rock 'n' roll, I don't know what is.

Remember the RRHOF "selects" who is "in" for each band, That being said, no way they leave Alec Jon Such out. Poor Hugh McDonald will not be going in.

KC: I'm not sure what you mean by this: "I used to never think this way but he has every to be “above” most others."

Don't know if it's a typo or not. Could you elaborate.

I stand corrected. Sister rosetta Tharpe did make it in.

I think they absolutely deserve to be in. They should (and I'm sure will) play with Sambora, that's a no brainer and he's already said he will likely be there. I wouldn't be surprised if they maybe start with a newer song without Sambora (like This House is Not For Sale) with the current lineup, and then bring Richie out for Wanted and then close with everybody on stage for Prayer. . I don't see how anybody could be unhappy with such an arrangement, but then again, these are some massive ego's to deal with. I don't think you'll see Alec Jon Such anywhere near the stage though he may be there in person. I'm sure Hugh has played with them quite a bit longer than Alec by now, right?

Somebody asked what Richie has been up to. Google is your friend of course, but he's been making music with Orianthi as a duo for the last few years. They tour together, put out an album together, and yes, they are romantically together. Not a bad catch ;-)

Question: With Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and VH in from the genre we all love, who is next? Motley Crue seems a very logical next choice to me and should make it. But then it gets tough. No matter how much I love Poison, Ratt, Cinderella etc. I honestly don't think any of them will even be on the ballot. Let's hope for Motley.

Good for Bon Jovi. Their first 3 albums were awesome, and Slippery was genre changing. It ushered in a helluva lot of clones and wannabe's in the MTV dominated mid 80's. A side note, say what you will about hm, (and I've said plenty over the years), but JBJ was instrumental in helping Cinderella and Skid Row, and has given away an assload of $$ and time to help the less fortunate. Dude has a good heart.

Also LOVE the Cars. So many incredibly catchy, hook filled songs over the years. Regardless of what type of music you identified yourself with, when a Car's tune came on, your foot was tapping, be consciously or unconsciously. Ric Ocasek was a master songwriter, and outpunted his coverage ten times over when he hooked Paulina Porizkova. 😂😂😂

Also tip of the headband to Dire Straits/Mark Knophler, who is hands down one of the most talented and tasteful guitarists on the planet.

That being said, kudos to Bob for pointing out Link Wray, who pretty much NVENTED the freaking distorted guitar, by punching a hole into his amps speaker and then giving us Rumble. But he's not in?
And Priest not getting the nod is blasphemy,as they too are responsible for an entire genre of metal. But hey, at least The Bee Gees,Leonard Cohen, and Laura Nero are in... 🙄🤘🤘

steverox: that is not the question I asked.

LOL gary "outpunted his coverage ten times over." Brilliant brilliant brilliant!

Agreed MB, a joke. Bon Jovi gets in over Priest, laughable! 😡 Moody & The Cars though, deserved.

Fletch:

In all honesty I have no idea what happened to Such. Can't find anything. Rumors are that he didn't even play on most of the album tracks after 7800. I don't know, just what I've heard/read. I wish we could get a definitive account of what actually happened there.

Doh! Bob and Gary, I completely forgot Link Wray was nominated!

He’s the most legit of all the nominees including those chosen for induction.

As Gary alludes, “Rumble” is often regarded as the first Heavy Metal song.

I was actually fortunate enough to see Link Wray perform live at a roadhouse on Long Island, one of the most memorable AND bada*s shows I’ve ever seen.

Though I already mentioned inductees Bon Jovi and The Cars, it’s also good to see The Moody Blues, one of the greatest Rock acts of all time and Dire Straits, who’s song, “Sultans of Swing”, among the best Rock anthems ever, also get in.

However, it sure would have been incredible to see Priest reunite with K.K., had they been inducted. I really hope it can happen soon as it would be such a killer scene, watching the audience have their faces melted off at full volume.

p.s. Nina Simone is also worthy of her induction, as exemplified by her genre defying crossover pop standard, “My Baby Just Cares For Me”.

Sorry. Did not proof read my post from yesterday.

What I meant by Jon being “above” is that IMO he transcends the genre of glam/hair, IS Bon Jovi (I know Richie and David are huge contributors too) and I kind of understand how and why he has moved on in his career and isn’t lumped in with the bands we love for carrying the torch like Kix LA Guns and so many more. Personally I think Jon could acknowledge his roots and give a little more love to the time and “movement” (glam/hair) that catapulted him to this status over 30 years later. But that’s why I’m me and he is he. Peace!

Hope I clarified ok

thanks for the clarity, KC!

Also, JBJ just released this press statement about Richie and Alec's participation at the RARHOF:

"Richie and Alec are both going to be a part in all of the festivities,” he says. “Al came to see the band at [MetLife] Stadium, and it has been five years since we’ve seen Richie. Time flies! We are welcoming them both, and inviting them to come on[stage]. It’s just a joyous celebration. Come and participate — both of them."
