These Prices Don't Even Include Tickets!
Friday, June 3, 2022 at 05:15PM
So this is nuts: Motley Crue opened some more VIP slots for The Stadium Tour. The top level package is $3,500 and includes a meet and greet with the band. That price does not include a ticket to the show. How is that even possible? I know these cash grab VIP experiences are the norm now, but they usually include a ticket to the show in question, right? How much money do these guys need to make a night? Yikes!

The sad truth is that bands are brands. And old b(r)ands are squeezing the last bit of juice out of their fans before they leave the stage (figuratively or literally). Thing is, those that can afford it will do it regardless. For the rest of us (yes, I am speaking for you), the "we are doing it for the fans" and "we are going out on top" and "this is really a can't-miss-event" hype is tired, untrue, and a bit annoying.
As I and others have said, the market decides. And I guess there is a market for this sort of stuff. Just imagine what that money could be used for . . . that actually did something, anything, for others? And I say that not meaning to imply that people don't have a right to do what they want with their money. They do. But . . . geesh.
So I don’t necessarily condemn bands for trying to make money, but, as stated above, the market dictates the price. As long as there are people with more money than sense, it will keep going up.
Glad I met him when he came to the front of the stage after they opened for Aerosmith back in 2007 at Jones Beach.
Of course, I’m the only one who took a belt from his bottle of Jaeger as the blonde twins I was with weren’t about to make lip contact with anything within a ten foot pole radius of the dude, especially me after I took the swig.
