'American Idol' Contestant Auditions With Dokken Track
Self-proclaimed 80s music aficionado Nate Peck auditioned for American Idol. His song choice? Dokken's "Lightnin' Strikes Again."
Yes, from Under Lock and Key.
A non-single track. Not a ballad. A totally random choice that was really gutsy, fun and goofy to watch:
The judges put Michigan-native Nate Peck through and he will next compete at the Hollywood round. Peck is actually the frontman of a band called Wanted that does lots of hair metal songs and I bet their shows are a blast.
Oh yeah, Nate Peck also sang on stage with Jack Russell's Great White at a recent show at BMI Speedway in Versailles, Ohio. That's about an hour from where I live.

Love the dude singing DOKKEN on American Idol. There should be more !!
Imagine this three-way conversation (its sorta' sci-fi) after watching the clip:
80's Don (to Peck): "You think you can go just a touch lower?"
Peck: "Sure."
20's Don: "You think I can go any lower?"
Both 80's and 20's Dons chuckle. Peck looks a bit confused. Then he throws his horns up and giggles. 80's Don wipes the powdered sugar off his nose. 20's Don just sorta' wanders to the nearest exit, a touch exhausted.
I find the judge banter so artificial it should be sponsored by Sweet'N Low. Then again, most of the acts on these shows are also packaged with a back-story, an angle. So they are all whistling or singing the same tune. Entertainment is a business, after all.
Stu, I can answer that: "Gosh. I have a job. Thank heavens! And I really only have to 'squint-learn' the guitar part. So that is a bonus!"
And, GNR, you remember the slam re: what IROC meant back in the day? Just curious. To me, it was right up there with the same for FIAT.
And, yeah, what’s with Katy Perry?
She thinks she’s the biggest thing that ever hit the face of the earth, yet she is the epitome of mediocrity!
