Power Trip Festival Lineup Announcement Coming Today

Power Trip is a new metal festival and the rumored lineup is huge. Bands like Metallica, Guns n' Roses, AC/DC, Tool, Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden.

Yep.

The promoter is Goldenvoice - they do Coachella, so we're talking deep pockets here. Power Trip will apparently take place October 6 - 8 at the same location as Coachella, which is the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. That's not too far from Palm Springs.

At some point today, promoters will announce the official lineup and ticket prices. I expect both to be massive (ha).

Back to those "rumors." I'd consider them more confirmations when bands like Metallica and AC/DC literally tweet the same video as below with the saying "Are you ready for a Power Trip?" Then Sharon Osbourne was on Piers Morgan Uncensored and confirmed Ozzy's appearance and she also mentioned Metallica and AC/DC, so...

It will be interesting to see who rounds out the lineup. Will it be 70s and 80s metal or stray toward newer acts? I guess we will all know soon enough.

I will be more interested to see the pictures of those attending this thing, esp. _after_ those 'affordable' ticket prices are announced!

You buy the audience you want; you get the audience that can pay. Two versions of the same adage.

40 years after US Festival! Maybe they’ll add Priest, Motley and others. It is remarkable. 40 years. A lovely premise. There are kids who know and love these acts and will go. The incomes that’ll support this are people over 45. Then there are people who are over 45 like myself who saw AC/DC & OZZY in their prime that will enjoy the YouTube videos of the shows. A trip cross country with lodging and tickets I surmise will cost at least $4k. Maiden and Metallica are still viable and tour often locally. Carry on folks

$600 tickets, not for me… I can see a lot of up-and-coming bands for that price. It’s a pretty cool lineup on paper though. Will there be more bands announced, or is it just the 2 headliners per day? Judas Priest and Anthrax would be nice additions.

But the real question here is how will Ozzy perform? Sitting down like Phil Collins, or propped up like they had him on the football show? Will he sing or take a cue from Paul Stanley and just run tracks?

Kind of funny as well to see Maiden open for GNR, considering the history those bands have had touring together back in 88… hell they could put L.A.Guns on that day and have a real family reunion; make a re-do of the infamous Irvine Meadows show…

LA Guns?!?!?! No thanks, horrible band these days. Haven’t released a good album since Hollywood Forever, and even sadder they can’t even distinguish between who is really LA Guns and who is not. Leave those bums with the Slaughters, Kix’s, & Bang Tangos. Not that there’s anything wrong with those bands!

@bkallday - I disagree, go listen to “The Missing Peace” from 2017, which placed on many “best of the year” lists.

Funny, your statement could easily be interchanged with the other Guns band “haven’t released a good album since” [insert Appetite /Lies / Illusions here depending on your preference]; who is even in that band (the recent tour promo depicts skeleton Slash, Axl and Duff only)…

At any rate, my statement wasn’t trying to put LAG “in league” with the other bands on this fest; just that last time GNR played with Maiden there was incident which caused a lifelong rift between the 2 “Guns” bands.

I’ve tried and given everything they’ve done since Guns came back, a legit chance, but one-two tops good songs an album, is what they are these days, sadly. Which blows because I love pretty much all the albums Phil was on(& even shrinking violet), before Guns came back!
