Look What the Cat Dragged In

Today is the day.

Poison's new album POISON'D! is officially released.

To celebrate, the band is planning a live webcast performance on www.poisonweb.com. The performance and chat session will be hosted by adult film star Kristen Price and will air at 3pm EST. During the chat session of the webcast, band members will answer fan questions submitted via www.myspace.com/poison.

On Thursday, Poison will perform "What I Like About You" on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The Romantic's classic "What I Like About You" is the first single from Poison'd and Pennsylvania's favorite glam sons even made a video for this track. You can watch the very cute video at http://music.yahoo.com/premieres. The page wouldn't let me steal the code to post as a clip here, but I'm sure some programmer will figure out a way to post on YouTube by the end of the day.

Here's a screen shot from the video:

Remember, Poison'd is a covers album including David Bowie's "Suffragette City," the Sweet's "Little Willy" and The Marhall Tucker Band's "Can't You See." If I can get away from my computer long enough during lunch, I fully intend on heading to Target to purchase the disc. Patrons who choose to buy the album at Wal-Mart will get a special bonus track of Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back."

Seriously.

Expect an album review within the next two days.

I actually like some of the songs on the Kotzen album, and some songs on the Blues Sarenco album, too. But, yeah, I like the CC stuff best, because it better reflects who Poison *is*.

My favourite KISS story is the interview I heard with Ace where the interviewer says how much better Ace has got in the year between leaving and coming back for Psycho Circus. Of course, Ace was not allowed to play on that album. Gene has always worried more about success, than being in a band. I do think that 'Revenge' is the best KISS album, but something about Ace has more charm, I'd agree.

It's an interesting thing, Heather defines greatness by what she likes, bob defines it more in terms of impact on the music industry ( if I'm reading him right ). I wonder if any band can ignite this sort of discussion like Poison can. bob, are you a musician ? I play guitar, and I wonder if being able to tell if someone is a good player, as well as judging if what they play sounds good, allows for making a distinction between 'great' and 'fun'.

Yeah, no-one is more credible than Lemmy. Did you hear CC on the last Motorhead album ? Great song. The quote was in response to people asking why he'd get CC to guest on an album.

Christian, in my opinion, impact on music in general is a big part of the criteria for greatness, but the only thing. In a nutshell though, I think you have distilled the differences between Heather and I.

I do play guitar (for 22 years), but I wouldn't call myself a musician by a long shot. I think more than anything else, just the number of hours I've spent listening to music in my life and my desire to distinguish what's good and bad about it have a lot to do with my approach. I really do hold things to a high standard, but it's because I love music.

bob, sounds like we're about the same on the guitar playing front :-) Yeah, I think that confirms what I thought. I do wonder how much playing an instrument takes away the wonder of it all, although it definately adds something, too.

I always wonder why people who really love music don't play an instrument. I know a lot who don't, but it still seems weird to me. Even though I suck, I still enjoy it.

Yeah, exactly. If I'm having a bad day, I play shout at the devil, or kickstart my heart, and then I feel better, I get back to work ( I work from home )
