Mick Mars Tweets About Farewell Tour
Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 12:01AM
Both Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil have mentioned that a Motley Crue farewell tour is likely coming sooner rather than later. This talk doesn't surprise me. A Tweet Mick Mars sent out yesterday... does. Read below and discuss. Trouble in Motleyville?
Any rumors regarding a farewell tour due to 'my poor health' are BS. I am doing fine, my AS has never kept me from touring and never will.

". . . in my opinion one of the most important if not the most important bands in rock history."
I love opinions (personal or otherwise). I also love hyperbole (because I am the best at its usage and my aim is true). But that is one doozy of a snowball, DJ!
The Crue are many things, not all of them good, but "one of the most important bands in rock history" is not one of them. Anyone notice that I avoided the hyperbole-plus part of the comment just to be nice?
I love the band. Own most of their stuff. Listen to them regularly. Have seen them quite a few times (even the tour when Lee morphed into a woman from the band Hole).
But this comment cannot stand. DJ, you didn't mean that did you? Admit it: you were jacked up on Tatuado Vodka or woozy from gobbling down too many orders of "Rattlesnake Shake" Nachos. When you said that, you meant to reference Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or even The Clash, right?
Those aren't rhetorical questions. I really need to know.
. . . enjoy the LDWeekend everyone!
I'm guessing DJ was saying, "one of thee most important/influential bands to emerge from the 1980's.".
If I had to list thee most influential/important bands (and 4/5 of them aren't even in my personal top 20 list...and 1 band I actually hate), the list would be...in this order:
1) The Beatles
2) The Rolling Stones
3) Led Zeppelin
4) Pink Floyd
5) Van Halen..and putting VH in thee top 5, is actually a personal gift to myself.
I kick myself for not including thee (other) great bands pre and post-1960, but it (the above list) is conducive of the (our) times.
am I on an episode of TMS?
It has a similar vibe, cool sound, great backing vocals. you should check out that song. It's sorta of like tom keifer meets steel panther meets david lee roth...finally made it, but now realizing there is so much more work involved...and deciding what path you want to choose. as tom keifer sings, "you take your road, I'll take mine." ...both paths have been beaten. it's bittersweet...
perhaps, that might explain why I enjoy, 'the way life goes' more than 'songs of life' or 'a different kind of truth'. Tom Keifer doesn't settle; nor is he on a self-serving quest. He's working hard to put out great music. it's "bittersweet" to realize you gotta keep "working".
I'd love it if we started a TMS-like version of lists for Glam and all other styles that fall under this site's purview.
1) madonna
2) cher
3) tina turner
4) michael jackson
5) neil diamond (???)- not sure if he blongs on this list or a list featuring billy joel, elton john, david bowie, sir rod, etc...
Also, I didn't put bruce springsteen and the E Street Band on either, because I think t-he-y should be on a list with perhaps tom petty, fleetwood mac, U2 and the eagles (the latter 3 I don't like as much).
Damn, these TMS lists...then we could have:
albums...
producers...
record lables...
songs...
genres....
etc...
...and the beat goes on
