Actually they are called opinions and everyone is entitled to their own. I also do like 1980's hard rock a lot as that's what I listened to then and that's a lot of what I listen to now. I just don't think that every band from back then is going to be that good now. I think it's a case by case basis.

Sorry Metal Mark...not Mike:>

Metal Mark but you slammed every band on there except for Armored Saint...And if you are from MD and like 80's rock I am not sure how you can make fun of KIX, They are amazing live and will put on a great show at ROK08. But that's MY opinion I guess. Anyway, you guys basically were making fun of every band and I took excepton to that. It is not the bands fault that the organizers have yet to lock up any big headliners.

KixRules, I just read your second comment. Actually my name is Mark not Mike. I love hard rock and have for a long time, but not every band is good. That's just the way it is. I think the second stages might help the festival and I think there are better bands on the Main Stage this year than there were last year because Armored Saint, Tesla and Cinderella are all solid bands. However there are a number of stinkers on the bill. Oh and I from Maryland so I kind of have to like KIX and I do to some extent.

Kixrules, I believe I said Cinderella and Tesla will be good and there's a chance that Jetboy and Tora Tora will be good as well. There is also a certain amount of laughing with this kind of music as well as laughing at it. I am a fan and have been for a long time, but we all know this music has always had a high cheese factor.

I believe they said Jake E. Lee would be playing with Enuff Z'Nuff. Am I the only one scratching my head over that one?

Metal Mark, I understand but if you read your article the only band you don't rag on is Armored Saint...So the way I take that is your have no interest in 80's rock becuase there are some quality bands on the bill. Again it's everyones own preference, I understand that...but you guys were goofing on most of the bands and making it seem like the whole thing is a joke. I would tend to think most people who read this site would take offense to most of you comments.

I can certainly see that the lineup is solid for hardcore glam fans, but here's the problem for more casual fans of the genre (like me) who are needed to make this concept work financially. For the same amount of money, I can fly to Vegas on April 25, see Def Leppard and REO Speedwagon on the 25th AND see UFO on the 26th AND be in Vegas while doing it.

Right there are two bands that excite me much more than anything on the current lineup (Def Lep and UFO, that is). So that's the problem with announcing the lineup without the so-called headliners -- once me and my buddies realized that the current lineup wasn't for us, it took us about 5 minutes to spend our money elsewhere. Now, no announcement of new headliners will matter.

Rocklahoma had me on the hook and allowed me to wriggle off.

But I'll be back next year ready to chomp again. Hope they provide better bait.

Quoted from Metal Mark "I just don't think that every band from back then is going to be that good now. I think it's a case by case basis."

Excuse my french and I'm not trying to be rude but dude , maybe you should shut the fuck up until you have actually SEEN them?

It's misguided misinformed and quite frankly , ass-backward opinions like yours why you only get 10 hits a day on your website.

Seriously.

how can extreme and triumph be co-headliners? the number 1 and 3 slots are TBA. No matter what eddie trunk said that doesn't make sense. extreme is in the number 4 slot and triumph the number 2.

Retrospect Records,
It is my opinion, but I certainly stand by it. I think it would be great if everyone of these bands came out and killed and some were very good in their day, but I just don't think that' s likely. Not because I am being mean, but that's just the way it is. I think the second stage idea is great because it gets more bands involved and gives some bands who never had an opportunity the chance to possibly get a lot of exposure. However, I guess I was just hoping it would be more younger bands who could help hard rock grow and be something in the future. Instead I think the festival centers more on just being a celebration of the past. I love hard rock and have for a long time and I think this festival could be an avenue towards helping the genre grow and reach out to new people and not just the fans from twenty years, but I really don't think that is the case with Rocklahoma.

Fair enough. I think there should be more bands like Gotthard , Nocturnal Rites or Fair Warning on the bill to expose more of the Euro Hard Rock scene. What I absolutely can't stand is the fact that a lot of the "new" breed of U.S. Rock bands have the same look and all wanna be LA Guns or Velvet Revolver. Same stupid dyed-black emo haircut with an ass-load of tatts. Puh-lease. I have ONE question for you guys... WHERE's THE HOOK?? If you can't write a good song then STOP worrying about how you look and start worrying more about the hook.

If you're upset about the lineup (like I am) then email the folks at Rocklahoma and tell them. As it stands, they have only one email address on their website and it's to a different festival. Just put "Rocklahoma" in the subject line.

In my opinion, it's important to let them know that there are a lot of early ticket holders out there that are angry.

I just stumbled over an old review from the Rolling Stone regarding last years festival and remembered my conversation I had here a couple of days ago.

After reading it, I think RS shouldn't report about the festival in general. Haven't seen such a terrible review for a festival in a long time. If those guys are not into this kind of music and dare to bash last years lineup like this, they are not qualified to talk about it at all. Tsk.

Rolling Stone has always been and always will be regarded as a joke. They are clueless about music and what the people want to hear. I still revel in the fact that through all their promoting of bullshit festivals like Ozzfest , Lollacrappza and Woodstock , Rocklahoma shits on all of them. In every interview I do from now until I am dead I will always destroy their credibility.

Can anyone please tell me if the band Heavens Edge is the 80s band?

LMAO at sam's Criminally underrated bands !!

sam you and rocklahoma deserve each other, you're both full of BS !!!

you're the biggest label of " your kind " ...
and htey're the biggest festival of " their kind "

it's funny how faith works sometimes !!

oh and also add the pistoleros to the mix to, apparently they're the biggest band of " their kind " also !

sam, but I do LOVE , some of your bands to be fair, so don't hate me yet ! I actually like you, I jsut think you got raped on this deal !! you'll find out when you the time comes !
March 8, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjobs
Not sure who you are but why do you think I got raped? I certainly didn't pay $5000 per band like another stage...

As far as G.P. goes , I have to disagree with your comment that they are the biggest band of their kind...well , if you want to use the "biggest flamenco glam band" tag then yes they are the biggest flamenco glam band but there are thousands of other bands who are more popular. All of my distributors in Germany , Japan and elsewhere have never even heard of the Gypsy Pistoleros so they can't be that big.

I'll be interested to know how you think I got raped though....seriously.
