Room for Improvement?

As many of you know, I've been doing this website for awhile now - well over a year and a half. You are currently looking at the second site design of Bring Back Glam! - but I want to add more features and content.

I am not a web designer, but in my dreams I know what I would like this website too look like: something very slick, with multiple pages of content, a store, an actual dedicated message board...you get the idea.

I also think it would be cool if I had some sort of podcast plug-in so you could hear my interviews instead of just reading the transcription. Some of my banter with musicians is quite amusing and I'm sure you'd be interested.

At any rate, please list suggestions/improvements you'd like to see here at BBG! I promise to take all ideas into consideration.

I'd love to see an online store, selling cool BBG merch, and perhaps a chat room, etc. What do you mean by 'dedicated' ? You want a better message board, one broken up into areas ? THere are heaps of free PHP ones.

Allyson you do an awesome job with this site...I'd love to see a chat room and store too..that would rock..also..remember years back how metal edge magazine had a pen pal section?..That would be cool if their was an e mail section to get in touch with other glam fans world wide..But I would be proud to be wearing a cool Bring back glam T-shirt around..Keep rocking Allyson..I love this site..Tell Eric hello too..=)

There is always room for improvement. Don't stop scending and when you get to the top...well, you gotta get out, or just RUN BACK DOWN AGAIN!

You know I've been "urging" you to do Bring Back Glam tee shirts for awhile... I'd rock one hardcore! (Gee, did THAT sound 80's or what?)
Anyway, yeah an online store and a chatroom would be great. You do a great job with the site... but you know that.
Oh, yeah and cupcakes for all the diehard!

I think you do a great job! Your site is simple and easy to navigate!! I am addicted to reading you daily - was also hoping to pick up a BBG shirt before Rocklahoma???

Thanks!

I like this site exactly the way it is. Awesomely cheezy colors and all! :)

It's basic and to the point. In a world that's covered with bright, shiny lights, I like straight forward black & white. I think a chatroom would take away from it. Chat rooms and msg boards open up the lines for drama, fights, etc, and I'm sure none of us want to see that. I would not want to participate in such things and if you choose to implement something like that, maybe there would be an option so that your readers didn't have to participate in those things if they didn't want to. I sure don't! I quit IRC in 2000 for a reason! And as for an online store, I'm all for t-shirts, but anything else, and you're running a business for profit unless the proceeds went to charity or something, which would be great!

I do agree, however, that audio interviews would be cool. In the end, it's your site, and you should do what makes you happy (I know I have to constantly remind myself of that when someone complains about my site or the way I do something on it!). People will still come see and read your awesome posts no matter what you do :)

I want to echo Missy. We'll still come and read your awesome posts no matter what you do.
I work for a company that, among other things, designs and builds websites and would be the first to tell you that too much flash is hard to navigate and confuses people... Keep it simple and they. Will. Come.

Hey,

You do such a great job, and improvement is always good to keep a site fresh.

A chat room would be great, so we can all exchange thoughts, experiences and some glam material.

Also a special page for the never signed bands of Sunset Strip back in the Hey Days (87 to 92) would be great, to let everybody know them, I got lots of flyers from back then and lots of demos if you need some help on that one...

:)

I think this site is great too. I like that it's easy to navigate and there isn't a lot of clutter.

Perhaps a couple of new things that would be great would be if a person could subscribe by e-mail for updates. I know it's easy to do on other blog sites through free services like feedburner.com. I don't mind coming here daily, but sometimes it's nice to be able to read posts in your e-mail. My computer is probably too slow for an RSS reader so that wouldn't be too big a help for me. Through feedburner you can see how many people subscribe to you, so you still will know your stats.

A podcast would be great too. Maybe a weekly or every other week kind of thing with interviews, reviews, etc.

Keep up the great work!

I do have an RSS feed option in the bottom left corner of this site.

Just an F.Y.I. for anyone interested.

This site is already great, I come here daily. But it sounds like you have some pretty cool ideas to make it even better! Keep up the great great work Allyson...

Okay so not a suggestion for improvement per-se but more of an idea of what to avoid. Please don't create one of those damn welcome screens with an enter or leave option.

I agree with at least two previous comments. I would love to see BBG merchandise! Yes I would buy some.
