Loud n' Nasty Rock My World

Loud n' Nasty have been around for awhile now. The Swedish Glam band keeps churning out tunes and playing live, hoping to get a loyal following.

Right now, Loud n' Nasty have three albums available via Perris Records. Like every other serious band on the planet, Loud n' Nasty has a ton of clips on YouTube. While I continue to float and frolick along the Atlantic Ocean, here's some of my fave Loud n' Nasty tunes.

"Hungry"

"Teaser Teaser"

"It's the singer not the song."

"It's the song not the singer."

-- Metalboy!, 2009

Even though I really want to like these guys, I'm with Snoot.

Some background:

Through the years since Buckcherry released the "hit" single, "Lit Up" and re-opened the door for us to, at last, Bring Back Glam, I dabbled in the occasional purchase of stuff I didn't realize was Glam Metal until I found this site about 9 months ago, thanks Al.

Though not all Glam, it was stuff like The Darkness, Wolfmother, Towers of London, Hurricane Party, Airbourne, etc.

And somewhere along the line I threw down the Gauntlet to buy anything and everything Glam Metal. So when it came out in 2005, I wanted to buy the Loud n' Nasty album, "Teaser, Teaser".

But before I did I wanted to make sure, so I watched all the vids like those Al has so kindly posted up above.

As I first watched and listened to YouTube clips, I was like, Wow! These guys are it! They got the great and glammy guitars, great sounding b*lsy, slightly gravelly lead vocalist, and a great Glammed out look, right?

They're from Sweden and that alone is enough to buy it, since the Swedes have the market cornered when it comes to current Glam Metal right now with so many great Swedish Glam Metal bands, as we have discussed at length elsewhere on here (Al's recent Crash Diet and Europe posts, specifically).

I've been so blown away recently, I wanted to declare this Swedish Glam Metal Month and after hearing Jack's kindly recommendation on here to check out a new Swedish band, well, new for me, the inimitable, the one and only, the new loves of my life (look at their album cover and web site, etc. and you'll see why!), and incredible sounding, Glammatiously lipstick killer good, Crucified Barbara! How could I go wrong with Loud n' Nasty, right?!

A total Glam! Glam! and everything any good Glam Metal Kid would want in their search for the ultimate Glam Metal heroes, right?

Wrong!

Wrong because the more I listened, I realized there's just something missing, something just a little off, as exemplified by the two tracks showcased here.

And what is missing is truly great songwriting. It sounds good. It looks good. But these just aren't that catchy or well formed or tight compositions, plain and simple.

That's why, I think, Snoot remarked that, and I quote, "none of those 'Tunes' did it for me." If I'm not mistaken, he's talking about the songs.

That said, I did listen to samples on Amazon of the other cuts on the "Teaser Teaser" album. There may be hope for, say, half of 'em... Play Dirty, Annie (which Glam Rock Archie likes, and whose opinion I greatly respect) -- which is one of two power ballads on it, If You Wanna Rock, After The War (which actually seems like it just might be a cool instrumental), Saturday Night and Hollywood Dreams. Now that may prove to be enough, but I'm not convinced, which is why I've never followed through to get it.

That said, I'm always willing to give somebody another chance (like so many on here after I have stuck my foot in my mouth so many times) , so in the interest of fairness and because of the fact that we've got Allyson posting Loud n' Nasty and GlamR Arch (howya doin' GlamR?!) giving us the nod, I've just ordered Loud n' Nasty's new single (which I think, has actually been out for awhile), "No One Rocks Like You"! I'll letya know on here what I think when I get it. Who knows?, since "Teaser Teaser" came out they may have improved (as anyone would)and they will, at last, prove "No One Rocks Like Them"! I can't wait to find out.

If anyone has this and wants to give us a verdict, as well as their opinion on these guys, pleeeeez, no more teeeeez! We neeeeed to know what you think!

Glam Metal Alert: Oh, by the buy, iTunes has a free download right now (and I don't know for how much longer cuz it's been up all day) of Steel Panther's "Death To All But Metal" as their "Single of the Week". I know, I know, some of us can get that anyway, or may already have it, but here it is for free from iTunes, if you don't already have it and want to go this route. One caveat, tho... This is the clean version, which actually proves to be quite an amusing treatment in itself. I actually have both versions...
