Bret Michaels Remains in Critical Condition

There really isn't much in the way of updates regarding Bret Michaels. He's still in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital. Some reports say he has been awake and talking, others make his condition seem more grim.

From People:

While Michaels remains hospitalized under "intense observation" and further testing following his brain hemorrhage, his rep updated PEOPLE Saturday: 'There are several incorrect reports on Bret's condition. Bret remains in critical condition ... Further tests are being ran and information will be updated in the coming days.'

I didn't feel right writing about something else other than Bret today even if I didn't have much in the way of news to pass along. Might as well pass some time watching some Bret videos.

Hope I didn't overstate it...

Just quoting USA Today...

It's just part of my nature to cling to all things positive when it comes to something like this (the new word "stable" being introduced into the updates on Bret) and I think this still might be a good sign...

Thank you for the update, Kiki, and excellent explanation of the severity of his condition. It really makes us understand what Bret is going through...

Yes, Critical But Stable Condition still in the ICU is more accurate.

Michaels is hardly out of the woods, and I did not intend to imply that, by any means...

All the more reason to keep prayin' even harder...

Keep the faith!

p.s. My wonderful Uncle Ted went through this for days and so did one of my x's mother. Neither of them made it. That may be another reason I'm so on this. I want to see him pull through so bad... He's gonna do it! CT!

I'm not mad at you Metalboy! - sorry if it came across that way. I'm just mad at the media. I think, like you, I'm trying to stay in the positive mindset with this. In my experience, doctors are pretty bloody realistic when it comes to strokes. If they're using terms like "recovery", then there's good reason to be optimistic.

I've just got a bit hacked off by all the differing reports that have popped up in the press over the last few days - often really misquoting people. I've been in the middle of media firestorms before, and (when I was younger) I've personally been baled up by reporters who acted oh-so nice and then took anything I said completely out of context. I really feel for Bret's father - who is clearly just trying to be helpful and polite - when his words get turned into "Oh, Bret's fine!".

To put it at it's simplest, can you imagine having to explain to a four-year-old, who is sitting in a hospital lounge, why the TV is saying that her dad is fine when he's actually unconscious in the next room... It's a scary and confusing time for any family, and all these different media outlets don't really help. I know that I've been clamoring for news as much as any fan would, but a lot of reporters seem to forget that he's not public property. He's a human being. I might personally want to know how he's doing, but I don't want that to be done in a way that hurts those closest to him.
