BREAKING: Jani Lane, Dead at 47

Breaking news via TMZ - Jani Lane, original singer of Warrant, has died. Jani was just 47. His body was found in a room in a Woodland Hills, California Comfort Inn hotel. No official cause of death has been released, so I don't want to speculate. Let's raise one to Jani - and Warrant - tonight. I'm very sad right now. Peace.

Although i should not be, i was stunned to hear this news and very saddened that such a talented singer, songwriter and performer is now gone. Say what you want about Warrant, i happened to love their music, and Jani WAS Warrant. Seeing him 2 years ago at M3 while seemingly sober and sonding great made me think there was hope for him and his music/talent...this is truely sad news! RIP Jani.

Sad to hear the news, though not entirely surprised. Rest in peace, Jani - you will be missed. I wish he would be more respected for "Uncle Tom's Cabin", as well as some of the later Warrant songs ("Machine Gun", "Hole in the Wall"), rather than Cherry Pie, but c'est la vie.
