M3 Lineup Announced

Reader Comments (40)

Oops, I meant, "And not just the usual classics.", regarding Ratt. Of course, I want to hear Ratt's "classics", too! And maybe some new ones from their forthcoming album.

The addition of Cavazo really has breathed new life into 'em, as he is contributing to their songwriting and, of course, is a force to be reckoned with in the ol' geetar department!

Still, I am with the collective sigh of others on here wishing for a bigger headliner on par with Scorps two years ago -- Def,
Crüe or VH, as I suggested previously.

I've decided to go, after all I want to see so many of my friends that all meet up for this festival.

I'm in agreement that there is no WOW factor this year. I don't think these promoters tried at all, they just got LAZY!

I'm thinking...buying tickets cheap day of outside the venue....

Kari... It shouldn't be any problem to get tickets outside of the venue for cheap. A couple friends of mine decided to go last minute and it was too late to get them on a guest list so they got tickets both days of the show. Don't know what they spent but they said it was less than 1/2 the total of what it would have been. And you can skip all the charges that way too.

So.... What happened? I thought a re-configured Femme' Fatale' was supposed to be on this bill.

And no offense to M3, but there's not a band on this bill that doesn't play to only a couple hundred fans at a time at the bars. What they needed is at least one good mid-sized arena act. For example, a Whitesnake, or Chickenfoot, or Twisted Sister.

Metalboy.................are you going to get Donnie Purnell there for the long awaited KIX reunion, are you looking for him....
January 31, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalman17
Hahaha!!!

"Where Is Donnie? The Story of Rock'n'Roll Genius Donnie Purnell"

Hey, Metalman, all we need is 3 mil to make this documentary. A half a mil for Purnell, a half a mil for the band. A mil and a half for production and half a mil for marketing.

What a great story it is and what a great doc it would make! This guy is The Brian Wilson of Glam Metal!

p.s. Puleez, Ace, as much as I love most of what you say, you're off on your recommendations for THE Headliner. Forget Whitesnake. They did it last year. Forget Corporate Rock Heroes, the ever-boring Chickensh*t. That truly is a Generock act if I ever heard heard one. And Twisted Sister? Really? Again, overly simplistic and Neanderthal -- as much as I love 'em -- boring! Def, van Halen or Crüe! Now that's a list of actual bands who could live up to the term Headliner since they are on that Scorps level that should be the benchmark and beyond!

Metalboy! ,

I was speaking in the most generic of terms, more to the mid-line stature of those bands, than the bands themselves.

From what I remember, Def Lep, Crue , or VH could sell that venue out on their own, no need for the rest of the acts. Economics of doing these things suck. Bands want to be PAID, Promoters want to make a PROFIT. 2 things that don't always mesh. Even somewhere in the middle of the bill, I'd like to see a fest like this book bands like STARZ, ANGEL, & what passes for THE SWEET. There's just so little "Wow Factor" to this, it's not funny. Rock on, Ace

SO....there is a buzz that ONI is back with LYNCH MOB, HUGE HUGE HUGE NEWS (IMO anyway)!!!
February 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkari
Speaking of Lynch Mob....Any thought of Robert Mason sticking around and jumping on stage to sing Tangled in A Web and Dream until tomorrow??? to be able to hear ONI and Mason, now, that would be a WOW factor!!!

Just to give you everyone the heads up.. I'll be filling everyone in on at least one of the bands that will be playing my M-Pre Party on May 10, 2012. That way it will give some of you a head start if you are considering heading to Columbia on Thursday.

Thanks for the support the last couple years..

I hear u Metalboy, where is this cat, would love for this guy to show up and play with Kix,Purnell was no joke back in the day man,It would make some documentry, but we are 3mil short my man.

Mostly pretty happy with the lineup, though I would agree that having a slightly bigger tier name at the top would have been nice. I was really hoping that we might end up seeing the rumors pay off with Sweet showing up (even if it is only one original member). Even so, we live in the area, so there really isn't a question of going or not...we'll be there.

Saw RATT on the Infestation tour, and they were sounding great. I hope they elect to still do all the new songs this year that they played when that disc was new.

Lets at least look at the GOOD news here. At least Slaughter isnt playing to ruin everybody's fun like last year. *grin*
February 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKenny Ozz
Hahaha!!!, Kenny O! I hope you change your mind and make it there anyway! We can head to "Hammerjack's/9:30 Club pop-up bar as soon as Queensryche takes the stage.

Metalman, it would never happen between Purnell and the band unless you threw at least a mil at them.
February 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Crazy right, things went bad real bad,im just wondering if Purnell,is even still in music, havent herd anything about him,we will never get new KIX,without Purnell,he was the song writer in the band,................but as long as we have any KIX its a good thing......
February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalman17
With the exception of Queensryche, the Monsters of Rock Cruise has a stronger, deeper lineup than M3. The MOR cruise has some of the same artists as M3, but a lot more artists.
February 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterWard
I'm goin' on the MOR Cruise, too, Ward! It's gonna be killerific, for sure. If Ratt were on it, I'd skip M3.

Metal man, last I heard, and this is from someone who knows the dude, Purnell is probably under a '32 Ford in his garage right now, as we speak. Yeah, he's out, which just makes the idea of a documentary about them even better. To engineer a reunion for a doc would be huge tho y'know it would require cold hard cash. I'm gonna see if I can pry any info out of band members as to his whereabouts when I'm on MOC. But I sure as h*ll won't be askin' Whiteman, as he is the most bitter about Purnell.
