The addition of Cavazo really has breathed new life into 'em, as he is contributing to their songwriting and, of course, is a force to be reckoned with in the ol' geetar department!
Still, I am with the collective sigh of others on here wishing for a bigger headliner on par with Scorps two years ago -- Def,
Crüe or VH, as I suggested previously.
I'm in agreement that there is no WOW factor this year. I don't think these promoters tried at all, they just got LAZY!
I'm
And no offense to M3, but there's not a band on this bill that doesn't play to only a couple hundred fans at a time at the bars. What they needed is at least one good mid-sized arena act. For example, a Whitesnake, or Chickenfoot, or Twisted Sister.
"Where Is Donnie? The Story of Rock'n'Roll Genius Donnie Purnell"
Hey, Metalman, all we need is 3 mil to make this documentary. A half a mil for Purnell, a half a mil for the band. A mil and a half for production and half a mil for marketing.
What a great story it is and what a great doc it would make! This guy is The Brian Wilson of Glam Metal!
p.s. Puleez, Ace, as much as I love most of what you say, you're off on your recommendations for THE Headliner. Forget Whitesnake. They did it last year. Forget Corporate Rock Heroes, the ever-boring Chickensh*t. That truly is a Generock act if I ever heard heard one. And Twisted Sister? Really? Again, overly simplistic and Neanderthal -- as much as I love 'em -- boring! Def, van Halen or Crüe! Now that's a list of actual bands who could live up to the term Headliner since they are on that Scorps level that should be the benchmark and beyond!
I was speaking in the most generic of terms, more to the mid-line stature of those bands, than the bands themselves.
From what I remember, Def Lep, Crue , or VH could sell that venue out on their own, no need for the rest of the acts. Economics of doing these things suck. Bands want to be PAID, Promoters want to make a PROFIT. 2 things that don't always mesh. Even somewhere in the middle of the bill, I'd like to see a fest like this book bands like STARZ, ANGEL, & what passes for THE SWEET. There's just so little "Wow Factor" to this, it's not funny. Rock on, Ace
Thanks for the support the last couple years..
Saw RATT on the Infestation tour, and they were sounding great. I hope they elect to still do all the new songs this year that they played when that disc was new.
