Bret Michaels To Host Television Show

Bret Michaels is headed back to television. No, he's not reprising Rock of Love... and yes, he will be on the Apprentice again, but the big news now is that Bret is hosting a show for the Travel Channel. The show will be called Rock My RV (seriously).

Basically, custom RV designers and fabricators will turn regular recreational vehicles into fancy, road mansions. The eight episode series debuts in 2013.

Bret says he's the perfect host for the RV show. “Between touring and traveling, I spend a lot of time on the road and my tricked-out, custom coach is my home away from home. I crisscross the country and live in my tour bus, and I know how to take an RV from ordinary to extraordinary. I can’t wait to put my expertise to use and show people how to make their RVs rock.”

The bolding there is mine. There's just no way Bret said anything near "tricked-out, custom coach" and that's fine: I do PR! I know how this works. But good night, this whole thing seems so... mediocre. Wouldn't it just be easier (and make more sense) to make a new Poison record? I get that hosting an RV show is better for "brand Bret" but man... this just seems sad to me. Thoughts?

Just goes to show they will make a show about anything these days. I would rather watch paint dry.

Bret is the new KISS, anything for a buck or to try and stay relevant.

At least with Rock of Love it was expected, but Rock my RV ? There better be a stripper pole put in every one of those "makeovers"

I'll wait for Bret's next show after this:
"Tie a ROCK to my credibility & toss it off a bridge".

Should be a sweeps week goldmine.

Either that, or "Hairpiece of Love".

If anything I think Bert has probably hurt his "solo brand" by putting Poison as last priority behind all his other media whoring. Maybe not KISS, Def Lepppard or Motley level, but Poison could have maintained it's status as a major 80's band/concert draw if Bret hadn't diminished the name by oversaturating the same markets with his solo band. I would think keeping the Poison brand relevant would intern give him a better platform to whore himself.

I don't think it's sad at all. He obviously likes being on TV, he's good at it, and people seem to watch his shows... so more power to him. I think it also helps keep Poison in the limelight moreso than a lot of other things that they could be doing.

I saw an interview with Rikki Rockett a couple of years where he said that the three of them see Poison as a nostalgia act now. They have a blast, play their old hits, and make some good money touring each summer, but then they all have other careers and interests that they pursue for the other 9 or 10 months of the year.

Now what IS truly sad is the Ex-Wives of Rock show. Compared to that, Brett's shows are Emmy-winners.

Not surpising at all. Next to Dee Snyder and Gene Simmons, he is the biggest reality show/media whore there is. Depressing. I could really care less if there is any new Poison music anymore. I wish he would just go away.

This is just a way to further cultivate his new demographic -- Hicks.

As my Mother used to say, God Bless her Soul...

LCD

...meaning...

LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR

Just because people watch anything duzn't mean ya gotta just go with that Axiom...

Michael's really is proof you can be stupid and still make a lot of money...

How he could have handled his career since his "near death experience":

Go write and record a REAL Poison record -- there's no reason to view Poison as a nostalgia act and the fact the other 3 members view it that way is a defensive posture.

He underestimates and thus short sells the Poison brand which really could have experienced a much bigger resurgence had Michaels sheparded it more caringly, as Rob Rocker points out.

And, GNR, say what you will about KISS, Michaels should take note of their latest move -- putting out what has shaped up to be the best Glam Metal song of 2012, "Hell Or Hallelujah"!

Here's Michaels with an original line-up of One of The Greatest Rock and Roll Bands of All Time and he sidelines it for Redneck Glory. What an idiot!

Ace, as usual... Your comments are priceless and lethal.
