So Bret Michaels Released A Dance Track
Clearly the world is coming to an end because Bret Michaels thought it would be genius to release a dance track. The song is called "You Know You Want It" and it's just terrible. You have to go to Myspace to hear the track (seriously). Check it out.
Midway through my first listen I was laughing so hard I started to cry and then couldn't breathe.
If you love it (which you won't), you can buy the song now on Amazon. The track will be on Bret's new album Good Songs & Great Friends due next month. I gotta say, even the art for the "You Know You Want It" single freaks me out a little...
Happy Super Bowl Sunday, Americans! I can't wait for your comments on this one.

That person should have his tongue tied up and his ears replaced.
That person should also have the common sense to tell Bret to bugger off and forget music, cos music has obviously forgotten him.
What Michaels doesn't realize is EVERYTIME he tries to stay current by jumping on the bandwagon of whatever fad that's trending at the moment, he makes himself more and more irrelevant.
If he would just stay true to himself and who he is, that being the lead singer of one of The REAL Big Four, POISON (Crüe, RATT, Poison and Cinderella are The REAL Big Four), not a Rapper, or Modern Rock singer, or Country Singer, or Reality Show Star, or TV Pitchman, or even as an underwhelming solo artist, I still believe he would be more successful than he's managed to be with his "short term results" strategy.
If Michaels only had REAL self confidence and the smarts to realize he's got the legacy with Poison the way Sixx has the self-belief and sense to be true to his brands, keeping them relevant through real passion, soul and conviction (i.e. Crüe and a quality side project, Sixx A.M.) -- instead of feigning such qualities with lowest common denominator (LCD) calculation, which is the path Michaels has chosen to survive.
Somewhere along the line Michaels stopped believing in himself and never truly realized the true legendary status of his band, Poison. Maybe it was a couple of dud albums or that C.C. crashed and burned, or not recognizing an opportunity after his fairly recent near death experiences (The Tonys and his stint in the I.C.U.) to return to form with the biggest pedestal with a breakthrough Poison comeback album.
Too self absorbed and too much about self preservation has led to too much second guessing and self doubt. I knew the gig was more or less up when I saw Poison open up for Crüe a couple of summers ago at Outlaw Jam (scroll down on the left sidebar to find my review).
Poison could have easily given Crüe a run for their money on that tour just by simply playing their first album from beginning to end with "Unskinny Bop", "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" and "Nothin' But A Good Time" tacked on at the end as a triple encore.
But Michaels doesn't even have the situational awareness or belief in himself or, especially, Poison to realize that's all they need to do to win the day. Instead he pis*ed away the opportunity by loading the set with substandard covers of "We're An American Band" and "What I Like About You" or crap from their later albums, rather than realizing the monumentality of his very own legacy lies within making the most out of Poison, not his own egotistical and misguided bid at self monumentalization.
It's not too late, Michaels. Get with your band. Get with writing and collaboration. Get in the studio with Poison to make a great Rock and Roll album.
At this point, the only thing you can do to redeem yourself is to do what you've doubted all along. It's not too late to reverse the inevitable disaster you set yourself up for.
Your road back to redemption is to Bring Back Poison and, in the process do your part to Bring Back Glam! BBP! & BBG!
p.s. As part of Justin Hawkins rehab and comeback, he sought out the mentorship of Joe Elliot and Def Leppard. Maybe Michaels needs to eat some crow and get mentorship from somebody like Hawkins. Or Sixx.
But his ego is so outproportionately ginormous, it's blinded him to his road back. Unless he gets some real self respect fast (and not through artifice and handlers) and realize his true power lies with Poison, he is self-damned to be lost forever.
Bret, Bret, Bret, Bret, Bret... what dynamic are you trying to conquer now with this garbage ?
We have a saying for Brett Favre when he left the Packers ~ "We hardly knew you Brent.." I think the same applies here.
Bret Michaels has now become Brent Michaels ~ he needs to stay thirsty my friends.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't actually want Poison to sit down to write new music. Nothing they do will be as good as the stuff on their first 3 records - all 3 of which rank among my favorites. And that's not because they can't write good songs - I'm sure they still can. It's just that so much of glam metal was a product of the times, the LA strip, and the energy of youth. It was sort of like catching lightning in a bottle. Those times are gone, and I don't think that the actual vibe can be recreated in any sort of meaningful way.
seriously, give CC a call and give your real fans what they've wanted since 2002, new poison tunes!
DJ! Nobody is suggesting Brent should write "Talk Dirty To Me" 10 million more times, especially considering he never even wrote it once because C.C. actually wrote it way before he was ever in the band. However, I get the jist of your meaning...
Bryon, why would you ever discourage Poison from writing new music? Let 'em write it, record it, and then, YOU judge it. If it s*cks then, at least it wasn't for lack of trying. If it's good, then you can quit while you're ahead.
That Brent needs to Rock and Roll solo. But, DJ, keep in mind, he'll never really Rock Out to his full potential, unless he's doin' it with Poison.
p.s. L.A. Guns put out an album just last year, one of THE Best Albums of 2012. It was fresh, it was different, all without losing their signature sound. It's not too late for Brent to get with Poison to do it. But solo, he s*cks, plain and simple.
