Happy Labor Day 2013!
Monday, September 2, 2013 at 12:01AM
Happy Labor Day, American Glam fans. In honor of the holiday I thought we should listen to some classic America, "Ventura Highway." No, America isn't a Glam band, but they do rock and "Ventura Highway" is one of my favorite songs. Seems like a great unofficial end to summer.

And now, from the World of Hair Metal, some other American themes, in no particular order:
1) "We're An American Band", Autograph (Grand Funk cover) -- also covered by Poison, as well as Red Hush.
2) "American Metal", Lizzy Borden
3) "American Hair Band", TUFF
4) "U.S.A.", T.N.T
5) "American Nights", Bonfire
6) "All American Boy", Crack The Sky
7) "California, U.S.A", Black Rose
8) "United States Of Anarchy", Alibi
That's all I could pull up on my iTunes. Please add, kidz. And, Happy Metal Labor Day"!
"(You Can Still) Rock In America"
"well guess who's back in circulation...now I don't know what you may have heard."
"[the statue of liberty] is the perfect host/raise a toast"
and is another reason why my daughter's middle name is "Rose".

Cherie played the Universal Amphitheatre Friday night, before they demolish the venue next month. (opened for Danzig)
The venue means a lot to her, as it's where she saw her first concert, David Bowie. I'm just glad she got to be one of the very last rock acts to play there. Sorry it's so shaky... I was almost paying attention.

No, I hadn't seen Jackie on "The Chase"... But I had seen her on "The Dating Game"...

*Odd piece of rock trivia, Back in the day, Jackie Fox dated local guitar superstar Randy Rhoads. It was her recommendation of Randy to Dana Strum that got him the audition & gig w/ Ozzy.
Back in the day -- '77 to be exact -- when you could have called me a Runaways "groupie", though I was unlucky enough to never have the chance to see them, I was more in love with Jackie than Joan and Cherie, lookswise.
Too bad Joan can't let her weird ego down and get the last remaining members reunite, even if for one show.
Oh, and Ace, great clip of the dating game.
Uh, Yeah. There's something weird there. The overbearing influence of manager Kenny Laguna over Joan. They pulled some real dirty stuff by signing Cherie to Blackheart Records,& a management contract, around the time of the movie. Put her in the studio, Cherie made a record, & it sits shelved... at Kenny told her to lie low. It's like he's afraid that any popularity Cherie gains will dilute Joan. It's not that way. A Runaways re-union of the remaining original 4 NEEDS to happen, if just to honor the memory of Sandy West. But on a larger scale, these girls together are pioneers & deserve recognition AND induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Fortunately, Cherie did not re-sign her management contract & is finally taking her destiny into her own hands. As for the Runaways, all issues lead to Joan.
She gets the Runaways back together, we are talking Mass Hysteria = Mass Media attention, which, in this case, would be nothin' but a good thing!
