The End Is Near

Check out this "save the date" card I just received. The thought is Motley Crue will announce their farewell tour later this month on January 28. I knew this retirement announcement was coming, but it's still sad. What do you think?

If Crüe had any sense, they would put out on last album to tour off and you're right, it should not be a half-hearted affair.

After that, like Jakki says, they should release all the unreleased stuff on CDs and DVDs. (Hey, Jakk, you got that US Festival '82 DVD of their set? KILLER!)

p.s. I could imagine some incredible solo albums from Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars. Even their names would look cool on the album covers. I'm confident Mick Mars' would be stellar. That guy seems like he would put his all into it based on interviews with him. Sixx would have to force himself to get serious, but we know he could write some killer stuff if he would. Special note: if you'll recall, Mars is on record saying "Hooligan's Holiday" is Mars' favorite album. Love that he will come out and say that, God Bless 'im!

If I recall correctly, Mars has been working off and on on a solo record since around 2010 (reportedly with a slew of guest players). I would love to hear it.

For me, Mars defined the MC sound and had, being the older artist, a foundation on which the rest of the band built as they grew into their roles.

It's clear, from the posts, that they will be missed. Like I said originally, their legacy is secure.

As do I, Metalboy! My suspicion is that it will tap into the influences that MC didn't explore. And I hope that is true. I don't think MC held him back. But I do think MC became a playground where he was too familiar with the toys.

Fletch, many people on here give you crap for your odd posts. Me? I was compared to you when I first started writing. So that is a compliment . . . to you or me, I dunno who.

I have tried to get anyone--Metalboy! or others--to explain the back story. I have even suggested you divulge the details. Nothing. Nada. I really haven't a clue what makes you tick or what makes others want to take shots at you (other than some really odd posts, which we have all posted at one time or another).

Why not just spill it? If not, no harm. But there seems to be a story itching to be told.

Fletch, you have KSMH. But I think "Primal Scream" was such an indication of what could--should, might, would--have been. The problem? If you live life on your own terms . . .
