Guns n' Roses - Back To Vegas

I guess another Guns n' Roses residency is coming to Las Vegas. I texted the number on the graphic below and did confirm that a pre-sale at The Joint (inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino) is coming soon. I must admit, this one sort of surprises me. What do you think? Is Axl ready for another go around?

Yawn....this incarnation of GNR is a caricature of a caricature. At this point a full on reunion (Adler a must) would not get me enthused. They had their hands on the brass ring and it all fell apart. Instead of being the 80's Rolling Stones or Zeppelin, they have the honor (a great one) of having the greatest debut album of all time. Illusion was over produced and wrought with anxiety and trying to create the magic that was Appetite.

Sad but whatever. We have Kix, LA Guns, etc to keep our love of kick ass R&R!

Not even if it was in my backyard and free. Basically a tribute band with a lot of talented musicians (Ron Thal is a beast of a guitarist). That Axl has the temerity to push this off as G&R tells you all you need to know about what an asswipe he truly is. And that's a shame, because the guy is talented as all hell....

THIS IS WHAT I THINK OF THE "BIG NEWS":

Yes, another tour is just what the doctor didn't order. I'm so happy that they have been touring pretty much 6 years straight. Just think of all the same songs they have been playing over the past 6 years of touring. I can't wait to find out what slight variations they are gonna make to the set list.

I hope they tour for at least 15 straight years without ever trying to be creative again by making another new CD. Axl Rose's voice is still in pretty good shape so this excessive touring should really destroy his voice for good. Hopefully this tour he will start to pull a Vince Neil and just pick and choose what lyrics he feels like singing for each song.
Think of how cool "Welcome To The Jungle" will sound after Axl Ruins his vocals from constantly touring with no new CD to support. "Welcome,jungle..fun n games... everything ya want...know the names"

This is exactly what Guns N Roses needed to do. The same thing they have been doing for the past 6 years. Nothing makes a band stay relevant to me like not releasing new music and always being on tour.

ON A SERIOUS NOTE:

I know pretty much everybody here will disagree with me on this but 'Chinese Democracy' was a killer CD. I have read countless articles about how they have so many songs they are supposedly working on. I want a new CD. All these damn tours are a waste of Fu<king time.

I saw Axl and the new line up about 14 months back and they were amazing and played for 2.75 hours. Axl's voice was top notch the whole time. It was a great show. If I were able to go I would for sure!

This is nothing more than a tribute band featuring the original lead singer. It is so far removed for being a legitimate version of what was Guns n' Roses, that Axl is just making money, making a fool of himself. I guarantee you, Even if free tickets dropped in my lap, I wouldn't bother attending.

I would not go either. F them. Saw Slash last yr and it totally kicked A. Axl is a jackass

I went to the last Vegas residency and it was amazing. They, meaning Guns n Roses as it currently exists, will kill again.

I think Axl still sounds great. All I meant was this constant touring will be doing his vocal chords no favors whatsoever and he ain't getting any younger. I've seen them live a few years ago and they did sound great. I just don't as a fan see any use for G'N'R or any band to be on tour for 6 years with nothing new to promote.

I want Axl to make a new CD before he destroys his voice from the ridiculous amount of tours over the years. I wasn't comparing him to Vince, simply implying that It won't shock me at all if all the sudden he loses all the power in his voice in the very near future.

At least Vince is in a band with all original members. At least he makes an effort for his fans. I don't gaf about Axl's voice or lack thereof, the problem is he's an enormous tool. I'd see the Crüe anyday of the week over these bunch of scabs. Btw, I don't care what they call themselves either!

I've seen the new GNR a couple of times over the past few years and I'm still always impressed at Axl's showmanship & vocals. If I were in Vegas while they were playing, I'd go for sure because having a few beers and singing along to some of my favorite all-time songs is always a good time.

Yeah, it would be great if it were the original 5 guys, and yeah, I really don't consider this current band GNR, but at the end of the day it's still a really good show featuring some of the best f'n rock songs ever written.

I think both Axl and Vince make an effort for the fans. I am also a big fan of both. My only real problem with both bands is the endless tours and no new music.

All of my comments are about how the nonstop touring does nothing but water down the importance of going to one of the shows for both bands, for me at least. I've already seen both of them in the past 6 years. Only Motley has one truly new song ('Sex") to offer to the fans.

I love it when bands release new music.
Not when bands just go out on another nostalgia tour.

Again, Axl still sounds great, I never said he didn't but the absurd amount of tours they have done over the past 6 years will only make Axl's voice decline faster than it should.

I'd rather Axl's voice be immortalized on to a CD while he still has it.

Also I wasn't trying to slag on Vince but his voice would not be nearly as bad as it is now if Motley would have stopped touring in 2009/10 worked on a new CD, released it on 2011/12 and then repeat the pattern. That would have helped Vince's voice immensely.

I have no real issues with Axl or Vince for that matter.
In fact it's quite the opposite. I am dying for both bands to come out with new CD's.

I agree w/The Outsider.

I want new CD's.
I've been to a Guns N Roses concert in the last excruciatingly long 6 years.
I had a great time at the show but they haven't had any new songs to offer in years.

Guns N Roses need to put out new music.
Please stop w/all the damn tours.
Too much is overkill.
I love Guns N Roses old & new versions but enough is enough.
Axl finally has a group of guys around him that he gets along with.
The only hold up for new music is this bizarre need to always be touring.

I also agree that I would want a new axl cd.

As for Vince being better than Axl....at least Axl never killed anyone drunk driving and then continued to do so after the fact. I'll take being late for a concert and replacing members that quit over destroying a family any day.

Gotta say- I absolutely love Guns n Roses, as they were the music I grew up on. To have the original singer still able to bring it, is enough for me. Would I love the original band? Absolutely I would. But the current band is solid and they sound great. I will be back for sure.

My only complaint will be if they do the exact same setlist, that I saw when they were there in 2012, along with the other 5 times I've seen them in the last 4 years. With a band that has as many great songs as they do- they have got to mix it up! Please!

If it's a Vince vs Axl thing, I think that died out in the early nineties. Haha. As for bands as they stand today it is Motley all the way. The band is tight they have better newer(ish) material. SOLA was far better than Chinese Democracy on so many levels. But Chinese Democracy was okay. Would love to hear new material from both bands, but I just can't call it Guns N Roses if one original guy is left. I'll save my money for Crue/Cooper and or Slash if he's around anytime soon. Or Duff, not the Axl Rose cover band.

Great comments, all.

Very funny, Outsider... "Welcome jungle, fun and games, everything ya want, know the names."

I would probably go see 'em, regardless of the fact that Axl is a jacka*s royale.

And I wholeheartedly agree, they need new material. I've heard they've got great stuff in the can. Let it out, already. Maybe they will put something out and tour on it.

You nailed it dj.

The Outsider, with a comment like "the absurd amount of tours they have done over the past 6 years" you make it sound like G n R have been on the road nonstop. According to setlist.fm they played no shows in 2008, four in 2009 and only managed to come up in decent tour numbers (i.e. more than fifty) in 2010 and 2012. If Axl's voice is shot it must be something else.
February 4, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSnoot
From 2009 to 2013 they have done 218 concerts that's absurd considering that 'Chinese Democracy' was not a hit CD. No need to keep flogging a dead horse.

They have done several tours some short, some long.
