The Rainbow Bar & Grill Fights Cockroach Invasion (Says TMZ)

The Rainbow Bar & Grill, one of the holy meccas of all things Glam on the Sunset Strip, is closed for a few days because of a cockroach invasion... at least according to TMZ.

The Rainbow has a sign on the door claiming plumbing issues is the reason for the abrupt closure. At any rate, the historic restaurant should re-open next week. The Rainbow will host a big costume party this weekend for Halloween.

Since there's already 3 of them out there, and it seems to be the in thing to do, those cockroaches ought to put together a Ratt tribute band while they're inhabiting the Rainbow...

Face it, The Rainbow Bar & Grill, (formerly the Villa Nova) is a 71 year old building. Every so often, a little plumbing work is going to be required. Where you have water, you have roaches.
Now if they tent the place & clear out the lice & crabs, it'll be good as new. ;)

Seriously, the 'Bow is a legendary place where decadence once ruled, (the 80's were off the chain!) and as the former glam clientele ages, it's business has declined seriously. Now 1/2 of it's patrons are uninterested 1 timers & just overflow from Jay Z's "10 Oak" rap club up the block where the Key Club & Gazzarri's once stood. The Sunset Strip scene faded from that block with the end of the 20th Century. Lots of good memories. Met my ex-wife there! ;)

Actually, Gary, it would be the dirty rats who can now return to the premises to form that RATT Tribute Band since the roaches have been eradicated!

Ace. soon we will have a drink there before it's all over, haha!!

As the former maitre'd "Micheal" used to say, to keep people from crowding the aisles, "Be a Moving Star, to the sidewalk..." Truly a one-time magical place & time.

"Ladies & Gentlemen, the Starwood is now closed... But the Rainbow Parking Lot is JUST opening!" Sigh... Memories.

And Metalboy, we WILL have that one drink there... before it's all over.

When you 2 decide to have that one last go round, let this old relic know in advance so I can try to get some time off of work, book a flight, and fly out there to join in. To paraphrase a very successful advertising idea. Cross country Plane tickets: $750. Hotel room: $300. Overpriced booze at The Rainbow: $100. A chance to drink with 2 cool dudes in an iconic setting before Father Time wins the battle: Priceless. \m/

Such an iconic place, hope they get it taken care of soon so it's up and running again! Loved that comment Gary!! I laughed harder than I should have, but it's sadly true.
I think I'll walk in and have a drink at the Rainbow before my time is done too.

Le'ts make that drink happen if you don't mind me inviting myself along. I'm sure I can get my wife to drive me up from San Diego.

I'm thinking a BBG group-meet at the Rainbow would be great fun!

Indeed... This might be a little too far off but I'm seriously thinking of going on that Monsterwood Cruise. I just wish they would book Junkyard and Wildside on it, too. Still thankin' The Metal Gods those Tesla d*cks aren't gonna be on it.

Thing is, why should we wait? Let's shoot for sooner rather than later. Bob, hellz yeah, have your wife drive you up! Haha!!, Gary... You better be there, too. And DJ, too! It'll be great to get all the BBGers! together up there.

We can all relish Ace's stories and I can tell you about walking in there in '96 with Brian Connelly of The Sweet, only to be met by a loud collective sigh or the time when I went in to grab a beer there on a Saturday afternoon when the place was so completely dead except for Lemmy completely solo, pullin' the lever on a bar top gambling touchscreen.

Wait, I'm confabulation get... It wasn't a touchscreen. They didn't have those yet. What the h*ll was that thing, Ace?!

Let's shoot for early next year, if not sooner!

It's a Trivia machine... and I think Lemmy still has the the high score... & the next 4 high scores as well.

Hahaha!!! We're there!

I'd like to horn in on this gathering if I may be so bold. And, exception to form, I bet I would be doing very little talking and a whole lot of listening!

Haha!!, Him! I seriously doubt that, especially when it comes to those questions you'll be formulating to ask our walking encyclopedia of Hollywood Glam, one Mr. Ace Steele! We should see if we can get Al & Eric out there, too! Let's just make sure we do this well before election time, as sparks could fly if we waver from the topic at hand, hahaha!!!
