MB!, I know this is subjective, but there are several songs on your list that, although lyrically about love, aren't musically ballads. Interesting mention about the band New England. Back in '79 when KISS was touring the Dynasty album, New England opened some shows for them. I went to the Philadelphia show where Juas Priest was the opening act, but my buddy went to the NYC show where New England opened up. Apparently they were terrible live. Thank god I went to the Philly show instead. Oh, and to keep this on topic, Scorpions, "Still Loving You" is hands-down the most epic power ballad of all times. That song still gives me chills to this day, and I don't even like ballads.

Bob... You are spot on with Scorpions, "Still In Love With You". It's definitely more of a Powerballad than "No One Like You" and equally is good.

And as far as New England goes, you're relying on your buddy and I never saw 'em BUT that doesn't stop that song from being a masterpiece.

And Badland, I SAID I was taking liberty with the term "Powerballad" when making my selections just as you seem to imply with your debate about "Winter's Call".

Do this, if you can strain your fingers... YouTube any song on my lists you haven't heard and expand your horizons (for better or worse). You will surely find a few worth a listen.

p.s. Naturally, Metalboy! has EVERY other recommendation mentioned by others here. I just chose not to have 'em listed, even though many are certainly worthy except one or two (and I bet you can guess which ones, hahaha!!!).

MB!, no argument about the greatness of "don't Ever wanna Lose Ya." I liked that song in '79 and I still like it now. Just pointing out what a difference 90 miles makes. I got Judas Priest while my buddy got New England. :)

Gotcha, Bob. Just another mild case of "Communication Breakdown". As an aside, one thing ya gotta hand to Priest... No Powerballads or even Quasi-Power ballads, which might be a better description for some of the other sentimental crap I through on my list.

Judas Priest - Angel

Touché, Badland... I do see it took them until 2005 to cave, however. I actually have this album.

Too bad the song's so halfa*sed. I wish they'd held out for something a bit more inspired.

I'm going off topic here, apologies, Allyson, but I don't know where else to put this since MB mentioned Saraya. If you have never heard the 2nd record "When the Blackbird Sings" listen immediately. I missed it for 20+ years. One of the best hard rock albums. Got buried in the grunge movement.
