Jack Russell's Great White Releases New Single

Jack Russell's Great White has released a new single called "Hard Habit" from the forthcoming album, The Gauntlet. I don't know what I was expecting... but I was expecting more. What do you think?

Its decent. Better than anything the OTHER Great White has or will put out.

Is it just me or does he sound like Vince Neil on a lot of this?

Yeah, Jack, you're right, that is, if Vince Neil could sing!

I feel "meh" about this, even if I hear his recent shows have sounded fairly good now that the band situation seems to be ironed out. And, really, live shows are what I am interested in nowadays with JRGW. GW? Just can't get into them, even if they are all great musicians.

I count myself lucky I got to see them all together at Rock n' America. Even hobbled and weak, he did a great version of "Rock Me" that had the audience going. When I saw him again--I wrote that review--in San Jose/Santa Clara a few years ago on the opening night of their package tour with Faster Pussycat and others, it was a letdown.

Another one of those bands I wish could mend fences. But some of the stuff that has been written, esp. on the GW side, has been heartbreakingly sad and mean-spirited. I know, JR is no saint. Still, I wish for something not likely to happen.

All that said, incredible observation Jack. He still seems to have the pipes for the music and, after you made the Neil comparison, it was hard NOT to notice it! Metalboy!, of course, made me laugh.

I like it. I give it a 7 out of 10. Jack's post is spot on about JR sounding a lot like VN. And, with that reference in mind, it kinda also had the feel and groove of MC's "All bad things"...particularly in the chorus, albeit with a lesser metal edge.

I like it...not as good as the classic GW but better than the other GW output this far. It has a hook and a simple but sweet melody line.

I like it, too. It has a cool laid-back groove, and JR's voice sounds good.

Maybe its me but both versions of great white seem to be playing u inspired music and these days, no great riffs I miss lady t d light, mista bone and songs like that.

Agreed, Arch! Those plus "Rock Me" and my personal fave, "Stick It", their two best songs.

It lacks balls. Sorry, but that's the best way to put it. It's got the groove, but the punch is sorely missing.

It's elevator Great White, at worst. Maybe it's all in the production, but it just sounds weak. It's not a bad song, just punchless.
