Bobby Blotzer Debuts New Lineup

So Bobby Blotzer is back with a new lineup of his version of RATT. Now, the band features Mitch Perry, Stacey Blades and Brad Lang. All these guys have real Glam street cred, the biggest being Stacey Blades of course. Here's the band doing "Way Cool Jr." at the Goodyear Theater in Akron, Ohio on September 4. Go ahead and let me know what you think in the comments. Personally, I'll pass on this version. I'll stick with Pearcy.

Are you kidding? Mitch Perry is a WAY bigger name than Stacey Blades.
(both fine players.. just sayin'..)

As far as musicians go, every one of the guys currently playing w/ Blotz is an "A-Game" player.

And I still don't care one bit about any of the pseudo-Ratt bands out there.

What Ace said!

And that singer can sure pull off the album-ish (Pearcy was always a studio singer) sound of Pearcy. But he has this odd way about him, what with his repetitive gestures and po-going. Ol' Leatherface is just a better front man, I guess. Sometimes a side of sleaze just compensates for a set of shot pipes.

Going to be interesting to see who shows for Pearcy upcoming festival performance (and we know most of them). Perhaps we are about to witness the re-birth of Mickey Ratt (though I would love them to be called Crystal Pystal for all you deep-divers out there!). You bet that is going to set loose the Blotz on a series of late night liquid-induced rambles.

I just saw this version of Ratt on Saturday at the Grand Rocketmber festival in Hinckley, Minnesota. I was pretty skeptical going into their performance but I have to say they were quite good. If you go in knowing it isn't "Ratt" per se, then I think you can enjoy it. They sounded great and the crowd was really into it. Sure in a perfect world it would be nice to have all the original guys up there but for now this is what we have. They had good energy and sounded pretty good to me.

George !!?!?! I was there too !!! I thought they rocked. Them, Kix (who was the best of all the bands), and Tom Keifer were really, really good.

I'll give them this. Blotz surrounded himself with first rate talent. The music is spot on. The singing is spot on. But,to me at least,it ain't Ratt W/O Mr DeMartini ripping shit up and old "Leather Face" grumbling the lyrics. ( Him, LMFAO at that name you just so accurately hung on him)

I just do not understand how a drummer, who wrote virtually none of the songs on any of the albums can call the band RATT. Doesn't matter how good the band sounds. I have seen tribute acts play exceptional but they were still tribute acts. I saw the real RATT on the Infestation tour and they were really good. Over time lots of singers lose their voice. He wasn't a great stinger to begin with. However, he was an original member and he did contribute to song writing. He is the voice of RATT. All others are imitators. It is difficult for me to accept a singer other than the original unless its because of death like Jani Lane or Kevin Dubrow. I like Robert Mason's vocals and he is probably a better singer technically, but he is not Jani Lane. BUT we cannot have Jani so a replacement is the only way for that band to continue.

Thats just my two cents.

We call it "Ratt". They sound good, but its wrong. Its a cover band. Blotz is a douche.

What in the world is a hot sh*t player like Mitch Perry doing in a joke of a band like this? Seriously, look at Perry's impressive list of musical credits. He is way above this.

I'm with Bob... Mitch is an A++++ player, he is so far above this, it's not even funny.
I saw him way back in 81/82 when he was a member of Kevin's "DuBrow" band for 1 show before moving on... The one thing I have to correct in Mitch's bio. He was NEVER "the replacement for Randy Rhoads in Quiet Riot". Only one man can legitimately make that claim. And that is GREG LEON. (Who was also in Dokken before George Lynch.)

HIM: Tagging Pearcy as "Ol Leatherface" was a stroke of genius. KUDOS!

I saw one of the last shows with the "old" lineup I guess in Louisville a few months ago ... but this lineup sounds pretty damn good and I'd go see them if they were nearby again.

The old (but young) guitarist "Blaze" is now playing with the Swon Brothers (country). They do a guitar based cover of "Devil went down to Georgia" in concert featuring Blaze that's pretty decent. I had no idea he made some video about wanting to jam with Brad Paisley, and then ended up jamming with him at a concert in Denver last year. Pretty cool. But when I see him, I still see more 80s rock than country.

Not really a fan of all these multiple versions of bands, but I'll stick with Pearcy, this is getting ridiculous.

Dj, as recent rumors suggest, many who were _in_ Ratt are willing to do the same! This should give us a few months of interesting news to mull over.
