Paul Stanley Gets Hurt, Cancels Shows

Apparently the concussion protocol isn't just for football players anymore. Wishes for a speedy recovery to Paul Stanley.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. When you think about the types of things that can and have gone wrong while skiing, he is lucky that it was just a concussion.

I gotta think Sonny Bono would agree with you on that (were he able) Him. I've lived up in the mountains of PA my entire life, and never once have I ever thought to myself "self, you know what'd be bitchin'? Let's strap some fiberglass 2 x 4's to your feet and then rocket down the side of an icy mountain at about 60 mph, all the while dodging trees, rocks, and other people. 😂😂

Gary, I think you should try it, but take a lesson and make sure to wear a helmet. I've worn a helmet for the past 15 years or so while skiing. Keeps the head warm and safe. We'll be going to Winter Park, CO for spring break and I'll be doing just what your post suggested.
😎🤘

Okay, brace yourselves, Boyz...

First, let me offer best wishes for a speedy recovery to Paul Stanley. When I think about his contributions to our kind of music, not just in KISS but through all his great production and songwriting with other bands from New England (of "Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya" fame) to W.O.W. (Wendy O. Williams), to the incredible "Shocker" Soundtrack, to more current projects, it's way too soon for him to be checking out.

Now, as for the DEATH Sport of Skiing, I am a former childhood NASTAR champion skier who lived, breathed and slept the sport from ages 8 to 19 and what Oper8n says is correct, Gary, especially since you live so close to some awesome ski areas, Camelback, Roundtop and Jackfrost among them, though I imagine there may be newer areas or others which may be even better!

Take a lesson before hitting the slopes and take one every day before you ski when first starting out. You will LOVE it! That said, I actually quit at 19 when I flew into the woods while skiing competitively, narrowly escaping death when I wound up akimbo in a tree with each of my extremities, some in skis or still holding a pole while dangling from branches. It was enough for me to restrap my boots and skis to finish out my run and call it quits forever!

Have fun and say hello to all the Ski Bunnies for me!

Gary: Ditto. I also live close to those ski resorts that MB mentions above and I never once thought about going skiing, for many of the reasons you posted. I have a brother and a couple of friends who are avid skiers and have never taken them on offers to join in their "fun". I even have a niece who was a ski instructor at Blue Mountain. I'd much rather stay home, turn on the fireplace, pour a glass of deep, rich red wine and listen to some Billy Joel, Elton John, Neil Diamond and even Barry Mannilow---he writes the songs.

I won't even get on a horse, either, after Christopher Reeves' experience. Whenever my wife has suggested to go horseback riding, I always say, "Please, honey, call and invite a friend to join you. I'll even pay for both of you and for the dinner afterwards. Trust me, you will have a much better time without me."

And, may Paul Stanley have a rock-n-roll recovery!

Ditto fletch. Lol. I'm within an hour or less of camelback and Jack Frost, but have always shit down going when my buds would try to drag me along. Ive never done horseback riding either. (I was always a dirt bike kind of idiot instead, and I've also gone water skiing numerous times) There's just something about freezing my berries off while plummeting down a mountain at break neck speeds that never appealed to me. Oper8n, have a blast out in Colorado, and Metalboy, I had no idea you were a ski guru growing up! Lol.

bk...and what you should've written was 'she wasn't'.

Hardly a guru but I did ski competitively, as I mentioned. You should still try it. Take a lesson, as Opr8n suggests. You can still have an enjoyable time without racing down the mountain. That's when it wound up not being fun anymore for me.

p.s. And you won't freeze your berries off if you layer up properly!

Gary: Today's headline on Lehigh Valley Live. Snowboarder dies at Mt. Camelback, one of the resorts mentioned above.
