Farewell Steve Lang

Former April Wine bassist Steve Lang has passed. He was just 67. I'm not sure of the cause of death but 67 is just really, really young. Too bad - April Wine has some great tunes!

Always liked these guys. Saw them a few times back in the day, once opening forBlue Oyster Cult and the other with Foreigner. I can still remember my buddy saying to me "who the f&ck is April Wine? Sounds like something we'd grab from the liquor store for like $1.98 a bottle". RIP Mr. Lang.

67 is way too young to go - I always liked these guys - I still have some of their songs in rotation on my playlist from The Nature of the Beast Album ..

You picked the right song to feature, their best and an absolute barnstormer. To give you an idea of where I stand on it, check where I slotted it in the first dozen tracks of my 50+ song playlist, "70's Power", featuring some of my favorite Rockers of that decade:

Doh! Already see a couple of biggies I forgot!

Godspeed, Steve!

Agreed, Metalboy! and Gary. A great, if underrated, band.

And let us not forget their catchy and cheesy side. "If You See Kay" was a classic, no less "Rock Myself To Sleep" (wrong decade, I know) from the _Fright Night_ soundtrack.

Metalboy!, not to quibble, but: for your No. 22 example, I think there are better songs to choose. "Gates of Babylon" comes to mind, even if "LLRaR" is an obvious (and good) choice. And no Slade? Come on. That has to be an oversight on your prolific part!!

That said, I will gladly take a box-set copy of your playlist (along with that darn contest-winning gift you keep promising me!!).

SLADE, indeed, HIM... It actually did occur to me... To semi-quote you, "Come on...", as in their original, "Cum On Feel The Noize".

And then there's Deep Purple, but what song?

p.s. Oh, and I stand by #22!

RIP. I was just jamming some April Wine last weekend. Sign Of The Gypsy Queen is my favorite from the band.

How about "My Woman From Tokyo," Metalboy? Not a bad place to start, at least. And you dodged the question of my contest winning prize. What gives?!!? I kid.

As for Slade, I nominate "Bangin' Man." That is one fun song. And I get you standing by your No. 22 choice. At least I didn't suggest "Angel Eyes" . . . even if I like that song too!
