Richie Kotzen Premieres 'End of Earth' Video
Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 12:01AM
My beloved Richie Kotzen is back with new music! He just dropped a video for the song "End of Earth" from the album Salting Earth to be released April 14. This is a very complex song with a killer guitar solo. It takes a couple listens to really appreciate everything that is happening - in some respects, it's like Richie stitched together three songs in one. What do you think?

Good song. And I wish he was less "Superunknown." Seems like he deserves/d a wider hearing. Maybe he is just "Misunderstood" and should take a few less "Hooligan's Holidays." Then again, maybe Kotzen is "Angoraphobic." I don't begrudge a man his problems. And I would gladly trade my problems for his. Like I said, good song.
But what do I know? I might just be a twerp who hears drums sequences and thinks: "Hmm . . . is that Cameron (no, not Sundquist)?" Or I am just a twerp who doesn't hear thing right. Besides, I have a cold. So I am going to take some ThayilPM and go to bed. Only problem is that you wake up feeling foggy and you have a full beard!
And thanks for the nod, Kixchix. Gotta' work on my singulars and plurals. But I am glad my overall point shone through the lack of editing.
Okay, brace yourselves, Metalkidz! I've been blasting this guy ever since he slept with Rikki Rockett's wife, not really because of that, but that was the last time he did anything that even remotely sounded like a viable song...
That is until NOW!
Yes, believe it or not, I actually like this! Yeah, I heard the Soundgardenesqueness of the thing but quite honestly, I think it's more a pastiche, as Allyson alludes to, reminiscent of "Physical Graffiti" era Zeppelin and Kotzen's best solo work ever... And, ready for this?... Aside from "Black Hole Sun", this is vastly superior to anything Soudgarden ever did!!! Or Whinery Frogs, for that matter!
And the video isn't that bad, either. You really have thread the needle, HIM, with the whole Corabi and Cornell interchangeability. I think those characters, along with Allyson's boy here, Kotzen, belong to a whole new genre, "Hippie Metal". 🤘🏻✌🏻🤘🏻✌🏻
But you knew I would take exception with your Soundgarden comments, Metalboy!. "Superunknown," hell even the more recent "Bones of Birds," suggest the power that Soundgarden has as a prestige and still relevant act. We can agree to disagree though. Though we do agree with Whiny Frogs (I modified your slam just a bit).
Good song despite any points of slight difference. When it slams, it slams. Nuff sed.
🌊2018!
While it's true he was Glam Metal in both Arthur's Museum and Poison, you're right, Kotzen's solo crap is really nothing more than half baked bad Prog Rock, which is as far away from Metal as you can get...
Until now... Though it's just Hippie "Metal", it rocks way more than a lot of so called "Metal" out there.
But that's okay, BK, we have assessed your IQ according to your vocabulary level, grammar, half formed sentences and overall lack of situational awareness.
It kinda makes you another Jacka*s "Turncoat" Zipperhead! Yee haw howdy, f*ckers!
"In informal writing, an ellipsis can be used to represent a trailing off of thought.
If only she had . . . Oh, it doesn’t matter now.
An ellipsis can also indicate hesitation, though in this case the punctuation is more accurately described as suspension points.
I wasn’t really . . . well, what I mean . . . see, the thing is . . . I didn’t mean it.
Like the exclamation point, the ellipsis is at risk of overuse."
No need in thanking me, I'm just glad to educate those that are a lot less intelligent than they think they are.
Sure, it is nice that you used The Punctuation Guide online without attribution and then thanked yourself for doing so. And, to be clear, that was the bulk of your retort. Though the 2.5 lines you added--after the search you did to figure out how to reply--shows some tenacity. So, good for you.
What makes me scratch my head, though, is that you, in the very post prior to Metalboy!'s, engage in a similar use of the same. So are you claiming that he, by virtue of using them more, is "at risk" of overuse or engaged, in fact, in overuse? So your one use (first post) is okay, but his three uses are not? I won't then go into the question of your use of four (second post) because: (1) those aren't your words; (2) I understand it was meant to demonstrate a point you thought you were making (in much the same way that you thought just putting quotation marks around your comment 'showed' that you were providing a clear reference to some source that came up first when you did a Google search). Nor will I ask you which potential rule he violated since "overuse," as a concept, is a matter of some discretion.
I guess I am torn. I like that you tried and ultimately failed to show some improvement in your reply. But I wonder: are you really committed to taking your studies seriously? Give it another try and we can see how it goes. But perhaps you should start with some other quirk. Or, simply, go back to your source text and note: (1) there is a space between each period in any ellipsis; (2) an ellipsis with four periods indicates the trailing off of a thought at the end of a sentence and/or before the beginning of a new one in some style guides.
You know, I don't really care about this issue of precision. I just get a touch curious when you, of all people, start acting like Strunk & White after spending most of your time acting like Cheech & Chong (minus the funny parts).
... So, Trollus Tonoendanus (BK)... I've NEVER asserted I'm intelligent... If I was... I probably wouldn't be wasting my time commenting on something as stupid as Glam Metal or the idiots... Including myself... like you who waste time doing the same...
That said, I love the stuff... that's why I'm one of the Top 10 Collectors of Rare Indy Glam Metal CDs in The World... Stuff YOU will never hear in your "life"time... One of my most rarest... KIDD WIKKID... featuring Billy Morris... current guitarist of TUFF... I think I paid $2,100 for it... as it is only 1 of 50 manufactured... Obviously... I'm not intelligent... because that is one easily one of The Top 10 Stupidest Things I've Ever Done In My Life... Especially when you consider there's one on Ebay right now for $900... but I had to have it right then... at the height of the market... and I had the bread to burn at the time... (Or did I?)... Still, it's one of my faves... it was pressed in 1992 strictly to be sent to the Top 50 Record Execs in L.A. in NYC at the time in a vain attempt to get signed... Pink Floyd meets Dokken...
Dude... You gotta be one of the stupidest most egocentric self-awareness lacking trolls out there... but not as bad as Jacka*s "Turncoat" Ripperofski who can't comment beyond his Xeroxing of the same old infantile Emojis over and over again... ones directed at me... and as overused by the Huffington Post trolling Freedom Caucus about as much as these elipses... when his Emojis are really about his own ignorance... like the Freedom Caucus... read KKK... now controlling our country... and his overall lack of the mastery of the English language as I have never seen him write a fully formed sentence in this Comments thread yet...
At least I'll give you that, BK... And I've always admired your Aeolus Donatus... In fact I want to go there right now for a Whopper with cheese... trouble is it would probably give me a sheer heart attack right now... one bigger than the one I start to get from laughing so hard at your vulgar display of ignorance and self awareness in your comments...
I finally figured out what BK really stands for... "Big Kook"!

Thanks though. You prove the point you don't know you are making. And still, I appreciate the reply.
