Axl Rose, Billy Joel Share Stage
Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 07:03AM
Last night in Minneapolis, MN, Billy Joel rocked a huge crowd. At one point, the piano man invited Axl Rose on stage for a surprise duet of the AC/DC song "Highway To Hell."
I happened to be up at 2 a.m. and noticed that "Axl Rose" was starting to trend on Twitter... and I of course assumed the worst, considering how things are going for rock stars these days. Imagine my surprise when the performance was the reason! What a great experience for all the fans at the Billy Joel show.

And and billy have done this before and it is cool. Wonder how they became pals.
Kudos to Billy Joel for doing this and it's interesting to learn from my compadres, KixChix and Bob, Joel and Axl have done this a few times on Joel's current tour. What a pleasant surprise it must have been to witness this incredible moment, Steve!
Also, very funny observation KixChix, regarding your speculation Rose's mother filmed this video. I wonder if she also gave him that Little Lord Fountleroy haircut he's sporting these days. SO bizzare and UNROCK looking, it's further proof he needs John Varvatos as his style consultant as he is for the rest of Gn'R along with Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick and Iggy Pop, among others.
I actually had the rare opportunity to meet the man (Billy Joel, that is), having the chance to spend the day with him at his house on Long Island several years ago.
He even cooked me an omelette and played me one of his concertos on his Steinway he had placed over his indoor pool on a temporary parquet floor.
He told me he would eventually remove the piano and the floor to reopen the pool when his young kid(s) became old enough.
However, he sold that house after his last divorce so I doubt that plan ever came to fruition. He could very well have met Axl Rose through supermodel Stephanie Seymour, who Rose dated in the early 90's, as both she and Joel both summered in East Hampton during those years.
p.s. If you'll recall, it's Seymour who stars as Rose's love interest in the epically overblown Gn'R video "November Rain".
