I'm Watching AXS TV This Weekend!

Eric and I love Eddie Money in a weird, comedic sort of way. Of course we heart Sammy Hagar. I'm totally watching AXS TV this weekend - Sammy Hagar and Eddie Money, all in one place! Thank goodness for my DirectTV Now streaming account!

Axs TV looks so awesome, but alas, I have no way of watching it. Allyson, sadly, by the time you and Eric would have discovered Eddie Money, he was on his way to becoming a punchline, but it wasn't always that way with him. He had some great rock records in the 70s, and his early 80s output was also pretty good. I love how he was a New York City cop who decided to take a chance on a music career, and he made it. Plus, I also love how he has a sense of humor about himself. His appearance on "king of Queens" was absolutely hilarious. Seriously though, go back and listen to his first couple albums. there are some real gems on those records: tunes like "Everybody rock and roll the Place", "gimme some water", "Wanna Be a Rocker", and a song that has more and more meaning to me the older I get, "My Friends, My friends."

I was in Cabo for the 70th bday bash and of the seven bday bashes I've been to, Eddie Money was by far the worst guest I've ever seen on the Cabo Wabo stage. Just Scab Awful!!! I have no idea what Sammy was thinking....

I was there too Kari! Surprisingly the best guest he had was Darrell McDaniel from Run DMC.
Eddie Money needs to give it up. He's had a nice career.

The "King of Queens" episodes was pretty priceless, Bob. Thanks for that memory.

Hasn't his band becoming a family thing in recent years, for good or bad? Given all he has been through, though, the fact that he is breathing is amazing.

And, hell, he deserves props for being a small part of giving Ronnie Spector a chance to shine again.

Gimme Some Water has been my favorite EM song since I first heard it about a thousand years ago. AXS has become one of my favorite channels. They run some really cool shit on there as far as concerts go. Also have a show called Classic Albums that I really like. It gives you the story from the bands behind the songs on iconic realeases. The British Steel one with Priest had Glen and KK jamming some riffs while being interviewed. 🤘🤘

It's funny you mentioned The King of Queens episode, Bob! That episode became a legend in my household. My husband and I reference it literally weekly. "I knew a Lou Money, once." - Allyson

You’re on it, HIM ... Whoever put Money up to selecting the song “Take Me Home Tonight” to revive his career in 1986 knew what they were doing.

The song is absolute songwriting genius with it’s interpolation of the Ronnie Spector refrain, “Be my little baby”, ithe key line from The Ronette’s 1963 mega smash, “Be My Baby”.

It has always struck me as an absolute work of genius how “Take Me Home Tonight” works in both Kiss-like hard rock crunch chords and a chart topping girl group’s 1963 hit replete with the actual lead singer of it all into one song.

Pure Rock Pop Bliss!
