Pretty Sure I've Seen My Future

Age is just a number and metal fans need a live hit every now and then. This story about Wacken Open Air is just awesome.

Christian just attended Wacken. I'll see if I can get him to review some of the fest for us... when he's back home and fully recovered of course.

Haha!! I saw this when it first hit the wire. Inspiration!

Only thing is, I wish they had let the old b*stards stay, then take ‘em back after they saw Priest!

Hmmm . . . I wonder about this one [see next paragraph if you want to cut to the chase]. So, how did they get in? Did they pay for general admission or jump the fence? Was this nursing home located in the town (near) where Wacken takes place? If they were enjoyed themselves, then why were they reported to be 'disoriented and dazed" when confronted? And, given that, how can we be sure that they were actually enjoying the festival?

I dunno. True, both Norddeutscher Rundfunk and Merle Neufeld exist. This just sounds sketchy as hell. And a search for the original article on ndr.de states that they weren't actually inside the festival (they were outside the festival grounds). So it sounds like a 'good-natured' bit of embellishment.

Hey, HIM ... There’s an updated story online now, though the details are still somewhat sketchy. It says they hitch hiked and took a bus from their “home” about 25 miles away.

It does not , however, say how they got in. It did mention they were unhappy when they couldn’t attend the last day and were sent home in a cab with a police escort.

The story is ambiguous as it does not make clear how much of the Wacken they were actually able to catch and what acts they saw, etc. now, THAT’S Fake News, people —- Missing details, unlike what most characterize as “Fake News”, that which actually tells the truth!

Thanks for the update, Metalboy! I still think this a loosey-goosey story that fed the public's imagination. So the media ran with it. All in good fun, no doubt.

True story: since the story broke, several friends of mine sent this to me saying that it reminded them of me! I take that as a compliment.

Another update, and one that adds a bit of context to the 'feel good' story:

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/german-police-clarify-report-about-elderly-men-who-supposedly-escaped-nursing-home-to-attend-heavy-metal-festival/

Like I said, the story felt good so media ran with it. Who cares? The idea was what mattered in this case, not the truth.
