'All Amped Up' -- New Tom Keifer Video
Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 09:34AM
Tom Keifer is out with a new video for the single "All Amped Up" from the album Rise. The video is of past live shows. To me the song seems heavier than most Cinderella tracks and definitely has that classic Keifer sound. The rasp and growl are all there!
Rise is a great album and at this point, I feel like it might be the closest thing we ever get to new Cinderella music. Sad but true.

Yup, this is a pretty tasty track all things considered. And I have been a bit harsh on his solo stuff. Enjoyed this (even if Basileus is right: this makes some of the KISS choruses sound downright inspired!).
Question for the gallery: what are your opinions on Keifer? Is he a prima donna or a tortured soul or a genius or a . . . well, you get my drift. I never got to meet him, per se. But I did sit in on an interview he did back when Cinderella were still touring. At that time, he struck me as much quieter and more reflective than I would have assumed. His answers were measured. He took time to think about what he was going to say.
Nowadays, I wonder about him and his feelings about his legacy and the band that he led to some measure of success back in the day. Does he need them? Seems as if he doesn't. Is that fair to the rest of the band (and I have posted here about the situation with LaBar)? Does that even matter?
I am not trying to hijack this thread. But, when I hear a solid song from a guy like this, I naturally start thinking about what could have been and what still could be.
Cinderella was Keifer's inspiration and vision. He put the band together, wrote 99.9% of the songs, scored the record deal based on his talent (Mercury records made him find a different drummer and guitarist) and this is the natural progression of his music and his band. He's the real deal. And, he gave his bandmates more than one chance to get 'his' act together.
One thing that if often missing the the Cinderella reuniting debate is Fred Coury. He apparently never fell victim to the rock and roll "lifestyle". He moved out the California and has a very successful musical career writing scored for television and movies. He actually may be the most [financially] successful member of Cinderella. It may not even be financially worth it for him to re-join and go on tour.
Tom Keifer is in a positive creative place. Stop pee-peeing on his parade.
Personally, as it is a bit of a dodge to ask and not answer your own question, I lean to the latter opinion (if not as harshly) instead of the former (though I found the comments about Coury refreshing, as he was the one in the band who got the worst of it in the glory days).
Would I pay to see him solo? Maybe. Would I pay to see the band again? Certainly. But that is also just a part of my nostalgia for seeing the players from the glory days, even if those days are well behind them/him/us.
