'Tainted Blood' - New Blue Oyster Cult Music

Blue Oyster Cult is making new music these days. The band will release The Symbol Remains early next month. One of the tracks off that album is "Tainted Blood" and you can listen below. It features Richie Castellano on vocals. What do you think?

Castellano is a great guitarist and a good guy (he responds to his fans and appreciates the fact that he has a career in rock). I also enjoy his other band, Morning Starlett, with his wife Ann Marie Nacchio supplying the rocking pipes!

But . . . this just doesn't sound like BoC to me (and I have already ordered the CD) with him singing. It's a fine enough song, for sure. Just not BoC's best (and I am still waiting to hear the entire album before passing judgment, even if I had mixed reactions to the other songs they have already released). That said, I can picture Buck singing it and, maybe, salvaging it.

And I say all of this as a BoC apologist who still loves parts of Club Ninja! So I don't know if that disqualifies me from voicing an opinion.
