'Baby Come Back'

One of my guilty pleasures in the Yacht Rock station on SiriusXM. Sometimes I pop it on while I working because the tunes are great background music. The station is incredibly repetitive but it pretty much always cheers me up at least a little. Yacht Rock always reminds me of summer or a beach vacation. Since I loathe winter, I like to fantasize about being somewhere warm when it is snowing here in Ohio.

I was clicking around YouTube and listening to a really bad metal cover of a Backstreet Boys song and I noticed "Baby Come Back" by Player popped up on the side of suggestions. "Baby Come Back" is simply a great light pop tune - and it has a nice guitar solo to boot. The song was a #1 hit back in 1977. Enjoy!

I appreciate the deep dive. I had to go back and read up on these fellows. It i s certainly an ear-worm, both good and bad, that represents that genre well (perhaps I should use scare quotes?).

Turns out there is at least one metal connection that they have: some form of the band was joined by Frankie Banali in 2013. Not sure if that is enough to convince a non-Player to become one. But you never know!

Love this tune, Allyson! it used to be played at the roller rink I worked at as a sophomore in high school.

It's too bad that you are right - Yacht Rock Radio gets extremely repetitive. So many more diverse catalog songs by these artists should be featured.

A guilty pleasure (pre pandemic) was our local yacht rock band on a summer night. Way fun and for some reason you know every word of every song.

Similarly I enjoy Pandora radio 70s Lite Rock, repetitive as well. Reminds me of growing up and listening to KGW 620 AM in Portland radio in the 70s. Firewall, Gerry Rafferty, etc. Age has definitely diversified my listening habits.
