Tesla's video for "Love Song" has officially reached the 100 million views mark. I can't help but wonder how many times the clip was watched before YouTube was a thing? I mean, I probably saw the clip at least 100 times on MTV just myself.
These download and view metrics are an interesting way to track engagement and popularity - and certainly more accurate than just TV airings. Congrats to Tesla on the big accomplishment.
More than 17,000 acres of area around southern California - including Pacific Palisades and Hollywood - is now burned from massive wildfires. Total losses are already estimated to be more than $50 billion and the fires are not yet contained. To give you context, as of this posting, there is a 40 acre fire burning around the Hollywood sign. There are five fires currently burning: Hurst, Lidia, Eaton, Palisades and Sunset. Yes, that last one is named for Sunset Blvd. A mix of extreme drought, hurricane-like Santa Ana winds, fire department budget cuts, climate change denial and building in dangerous areas has all contributed to this mess.
I was watching live news coverage last night and it was pretty surreal seeing reporters wearing fire suits and standing on the Sunset Strip and pointing out landmarks like the walk of fame and the famous rock clubs we all love. I hope all the fires are contained as fast as possible - and that there is no more loss of life. Already, so many families are homeless and it going to takes years and years to rebuild, especially in the Palisades area. If you can spare a few dollars to help, Red Cross is taking donations.
Becoming Led Zeppelin hits American theaters February 7.
It is directed by Bernard MacMahon and I can't wait. I got served up a targeted ad by Sony Pictures with some new trailer clips. The film has never-before-seen footage and that is what I am most excited about. This is a must-see for me.
I love this! "The Spirit of 1989" tour! Trixter, Pretty Boy Floyd, Christian Shields and (on some dates) Enuff Z'Nuff. This is going to be one of those crazy, fun shows. There's even a date near me. Don't miss out on this one!
There's a YouTube account called AlteredAnthems. A few days ago, the account shared a glam metal take on the Beatles classic, Revolver. Just check out "Eleanor Rigby" (3:30 mark). This actually works. Wild, but fun.
Stephen Pearcy is a pretty fun follow on Facebook. He always posts music and RATT-related stuff of course, but he also shares a lot about his pets and family life. Now, his fluffy feline named Charles the Catt is in the "America's Favorite Pet" content.
Their song "A Bit of Lightning" has great guitar solos and no wonder - the band was formed by Jason Hook. You might recall that Hook was previously a guitarist for Five Finger Death Punch.
"A Bit of Lightning" is on the Flat Black debut album Dark Side of the Brain. It came out over the summer. Flat Black is performing on the Shiprocked cruise festival later this month.
