Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper and Weird Al Yankovic Ring in 2012

This is very cool!

Alice Cooper and his band played a New Year's Eve gig in Hawaii Saturday night. The show included Weird Al Yankovic, Michael McDonald, Bob Rock and some other folks... and Steven Tyler. That is what I call a New Year's Eve party! For whatever reason, Alice has to use written lyrics to get through the tune (who doesn't know the words to every Beatles song, let alone "Come Together?") but maybe it was a psychological crutch or something. Oh and Steven is Steven and jumps up on a table toward the end of the clip.

Here's the video of Tyler, Cooper and Weird Al doing "Come Together." The musicians look like they are honestly having a great time.

2012 Rock Predictions

Happy New Year!

Do you like playing the predictions game? I think guessing what may or may not happen in the new year is pretty fun. I especially like to guess what will happen to the world of rock during 2012.

With that said, here's my top guesses for rock and Glam in 2012:

5. Aerosmith will record and release a new record and hit the road. Their show will be the top grossing rock act of the year.

4. Van Halen's 2012 tour won't be as successful as the 2007 jaunt, even with a new album, but...

3. The new Van Halen record will enter the Billboard charts in the top 10 and enter at number one on active rock.

2. Poison will headline M3.

1. The Appetite for Destruction-era Guns n' Roses reunion will happen during the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April.

So those are my guesses for 2012. What do you think will happen in the world of rock and Glam between now and this time next year? And do you agree with my guesses? Be sure to let me know in the comments section.

Some More M3 Rumors

It's the last day of the year, ya'll. Before you get all kooky and party hard tonight, I wanted to leave you with something to chew on well into 2012. Yes, more M3 rumors.

We already know we're getting Quiet Riot and Warrant at M3 2012. A little birdie told me XYZ was a lock as well. Then I heard some rumors about Femme Fatale and Enuff Z'Nuff. Right now, I'd also put money on Stryper and Sweet. So we'll see soon I guess. I gotta admit that I'd be cool with both Femme Fatale and Enuff Z'Nuff. I've never seen Femme Fatale live and you all know how much I like to add bands to my master "I've seen them live" list!

Enjoy your New Year's Eve party plans tonight and please be careful. And if you're seeing any fun shows, be sure to report back!

Frank Hannon Sings National Anthem

I don't know why Frank Hannon singing the National Anthem surprises me, but it does. Frank sang the patriotic tune before Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers basketball game on December 26. I think it's very cool for both Frank and Tesla to be honored in this manner. Even better, Frank did an amazing job on the very difficult song.

Bring Back Glam! Best Albums of 2011

It's that time again!

It's hard to believe it's the end of the year and before you know it, we'll all be ringing in 2012. To mark the end of the year, Bring Back Glam! is happy to present the best albums of 2011. Like last year, Christian and Brian helped me compile this list. Here's the list in no real order... except for the top spot of course!

The Pretty Reckless - Light Me Up (Allyson's selection)
Nickelback - Here and Now (Allyson's selection)
Anthrax - Worship Music  (Brian's selection)
Primus - Green Naugahyde  (Brian's selection)
Don Jamieson - Live and Hilarious  (Brian's selection)
Black Veil Brides - Set the World on Fire (Christian's selection)
Chickenfoot - III (Christian's selection)
Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare (Christian's selection)
Steel Panther - Balls Out (Allyson's selection)

Drumroll please...

What was the best record of 2011 (according to Allyson)? This was a no brainer. Asking Alexandria released Reckless and Relentless in April. After I saw the band at Rock on the Range (with guest performer Sebastian Bach) I was pretty much hooked. Asking Alexandria has gotten me through a lot of really hard runs these past few months and Reckless and Relentless (along with the band's other releases) has made me very happy. I haven't listened to any other album - from any year, genre or band - more than Reckless and Relentless in 2011.

Check Out This Awesome Kix Audio from 1985

My friend Todd (you know him as KixRules) sent me an email last week about an awesome Kix concert (audio only) posted on YouTube. The concert is from 1985 and took place at a club called the Sandbar in Pasadena, Maryland. Spend some time and have a listen. You won't regret it!

Van Halen Tour Time

Did Santa put a little money in your stocking for Christmas? If so, you might want to swap that green for some Van Halen tickets. The band is going on tour in 2012 and tickets go on sale January 10.

The tour announcement trailer was shot last month at the Roxy in Hollywood. In the clip below, the band is apparently performing a new song... but all we get are snippets of "the classics." Van Halen will (apparently) release a new record in February to coincide with the tour. On the announcement art (left), the date is listed as 2-7-12. That's either the first date of the tour, or the album release. Maybe both.

So the important question: will you go to this tour? I'm on the fence. I saw the Van Halen reunion tour twice last go' round - and those tickets were not cheap. I'll need some more information before I plunk down a ton of cash again. That said, I'm excited for the new album. I'm just hoping it's an album of all new material - and not a couple of new songs with greatest hits mixed in.
