Bring Back Glam! Best Albums of 2011

It's that time again!

It's hard to believe it's the end of the year and before you know it, we'll all be ringing in 2012. To mark the end of the year, Bring Back Glam! is happy to present the best albums of 2011. Like last year, Christian and Brian helped me compile this list. Here's the list in no real order... except for the top spot of course!

The Pretty Reckless - Light Me Up (Allyson's selection)
Nickelback - Here and Now (Allyson's selection)
Anthrax - Worship Music  (Brian's selection)
Primus - Green Naugahyde  (Brian's selection)
Don Jamieson - Live and Hilarious  (Brian's selection)
Black Veil Brides - Set the World on Fire (Christian's selection)
Chickenfoot - III (Christian's selection)
Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare (Christian's selection)
Steel Panther - Balls Out (Allyson's selection)

Drumroll please...

What was the best record of 2011 (according to Allyson)? This was a no brainer. Asking Alexandria released Reckless and Relentless in April. After I saw the band at Rock on the Range (with guest performer Sebastian Bach) I was pretty much hooked. Asking Alexandria has gotten me through a lot of really hard runs these past few months and Reckless and Relentless (along with the band's other releases) has made me very happy. I haven't listened to any other album - from any year, genre or band - more than Reckless and Relentless in 2011.

One choice!

Interesting... especially considering Steel Panther's "Feel The Steel" is over 2 years old. No love for "Balls Out"?

But since we're throing out our 2011 favorites:

Alice Cooper's "Welcome 2 My Nightmare"
Whitesnake's "Forevermore"
& Starz' Coliseum Rock - (For the 33rd year in a row... When you find a better slab of rock music, let me know...)

Yeah, I meant 'Balls Out.' Thanks for catching that. Sigh.

No Sixx:A.M.? Definitely one of my favorites this year.
December 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJT
I liked the SIXX: AM but not more than the ones I selected... and Brian and Christian didn't mention it all, hence it didn't make the cut.

Vain-Enough Rope is hands down the best album from 2011!!
Michael Monroe-Sensory Overdrive is second best.

Both of these could be considered "glam". Not sure all of those on the list could be considered that genre.

If you guys go to Amazon you can download the new albums from
Vain, Asking Alexandia, BVB, Chickenfoot, Sixx AM, Sebastian Bach, Steel Panther among others for $4.99 each. My guess is you only have a couple more days to do this but it is a great deal .

Snoot! Tell us your other favorites!

Also, if anybody can think of any stuff I missed on my lists, I am all ears (yuck, yuck) cuz I want to listen to what else is out there others think is good.

p.s. Al! I just listened to the entire "Light Me Up" album from The Pretty Reckless! Absolutely stunning! -- particularly, the title track! Killer!
December 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
p.s.s.t. Al! Okay, I'm already in the process of wearin' this album out! "Miss Nothing"!!! -- I think I like that one even better! AND "Just Tonight"! AND "Goin' Down"! AND "Nothing Left To Lose"! AND... AND... Geez, this album really takes off from the title track on! Totally Hittsville from that point on!
December 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Metalboy nice list. I agree with you on Electric Boys and Steel Panther.

I would also through out Head Cat - Walk the Walk Talk the Talk and Black Spiders - Sons of the North. Neither would be considered Glam but I enjoyed them both a lot this year.

Regarding 77, 21st Century Rock is actually their first album. Their new one is High Deicibels. They will be playing here in Barcelona (their home town) at the end of Jan. Cant wait.
December 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDerek
Derek! Thanks! I can't keep the dang stuff straight! I might as well have CDs for eyeballs at this rate, there's so much stuff I got, including Head Cat, I didn't list just because I simply can't keep track of it all! I will check out Black Spider.

Also, since we're nearing year's end, I just wanted to say to all, "THANK YOU for putting up with me!", particularly Allyson, who, I guess, hasn't figured out how to block me from this site (hahaha!!!). Thanks for letting me hang out here. As you can see, I have no real life... Hahaha!!! Just kiddin', folks! I got one. It's just not nearly as METAL as it is on this site!

I've learned SOOOO much from y'all on here. So many great tips about great bands. You can probably see ones Al did a post on or one of you lovely hooligans spoke of in the Rogue's Gallery of
the Comments section.

I feel like it's the last day of Shiprocked! or sumthin'. I'm cryin' mercury tears and usin' tin foil Kleenex! But, alas, we have a new frontier ahead of us in 2012! More Eddie Chump statements to complain about! More facts left out or distorted by Sam What's-His-Ass on "Metal Evolution"! More IRON MAIDEN or RUSH fans to argue with (Alright! Alright! I like SOME of it!) about how Rock'n'Roll they are as you throw up your hands when I tell ya I like Pretty Boy Floyd better! More shows to miss and more baked bean sandwiches to eat because I blew my last $$$ on a Holy
Grail.

More... Hey, wait a minute! I guess my life is more Metal than I thought! Here's to you all for helpin' to make it so and to all I wish you The METALLEST of New Years as we continue our never ending quest our lovely Allyson Bring Back Glam!

p.s. Kenny O! Shadow! Gary! Bob! KixRules! Him! Fletch! Mom2Ross, Kiki Chrome (Where art though?), The Nirves, and all the other characterz usually on here! Where the h*ll are those lists?

Oh, and Glam Princess! Huh-uh-uh-lo-oh!
December 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Geez! I'm chewin' up all the space hear! Sorry! The sentence above was supposed to read: "...I wish you the METALLEST of New Years as we continue our quest for the lovely Miss Allyson to Bring Back Glam!" Forgive me fair Glamistress!

Thanks Scott. I downloaded the new Vain today and I LOVE it. Had I heard it before last week, this definately would have been one of my three choices (replace Primus with Vain). Davy still sounds amazing and the album sounds sort of like No Respect. I also got (for $4.99 each Sacred Reich's American Way, Hed(p.e.)'s Back to Base X, Bile's Sex Reflex, and Junkyard's Joker albums. Thanks for the tip. I have ALOT of new good stuff to listen to.
