I Call Bullshit - Part II

Vince_wm.JPGIn the ongoing saga that is Motley Crue, Vince Neil apparently told MTV that Tommy Lee is still in the band. Moreover, Vince also says the Motley Crue is going to hit the studio "soon" and will be touring this summer.
According to MTV and Blabbermouth, Motley Crue's "next album" will be called The Dirt and feature "songs that tell a story about the lives of Motley Crue members."

Yeah. Right.

So, the whole Tommy Lee debacle is turning out to be one big media power play. Well, I always knew Nikki Sixx was a marketing genius. Remember, dear readers, Nikki commented to the press just two days ago that Tommy was out of the band for good. He didn't mention animosity toward Lee, but his statement was very clear that Motley Crue no longer included Tommy Lee.

Well, I guess only time will tell.

I'll go ahead and start stockpiling some cash for the summer 2008 tour - but I won't be holding my breath.

They've got contracts. They have a section of the fanbase that thinks Tommy is a drum god. They want to make as much money as possible.

Is it easier to make a lot of money with four original members or with three and a replacement drummer? Ask KISS.....

I'll bet there's some legal issues and Nikki controls the band, Vince is probably as in the dark as the rest of us but is saving face so the fans don't get up in arms.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for stopping by BBG! The Motley brand is owned by Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars. At this point, Vince Neil and Tommy Lee are hired guns -- probably because they each quit (or were fired, depending on who you believe). To this end, I'll believe Nikki more on all affairs Motley. Still, I honestly think something fishy is going on...

I used to be a big fan of Tommy Lee, but as of right now, I don't care if it is him, or someone else behind the skins, as long as the Crue gets their ass back in the studio, and gives us a new full length CD or two.

They haven't had an album worth of new material since 2000. That is sad!
Honestly, I don't care if there is ever another Motley album. Dr. Feelgood was the pinnacle, and every album since then has been a let-down. The Corabi disc was good, but wasn't Crue. And the new songs on the superfluous compilations have been inconsistent (some great, some laughable). I almost prefer them to work on their various side projects (Sixx:A.M., Crashdiet, Rockstar Supernova).
