World Upside Down

houseoflords.jpgThe House of Lords is the upper house of Parliament in the United Kingdom, made up of members of the nobility and high-ranking clergy.

House of Lords is also a great glam band, formed in Los Angeles back in 1988. The band formed from the ashes of Giuffria, namesake of keyboardist Gregg Giuffria.

Originally signed to Simmons Records (yes, that Simmons), the band underwent several line-up changes before settling on the name House of Lords and releasing a self titled album.

The original line-up included Giuffria, vocalist James Christian, guitarist Lanny Cordola, bassist Chuck Wright and drummer Ken Mary. The debut album peaked at #78 on the Billboard chart. Perhaps the best known track on House of Lords is "I Wanna Be Loved." The albums SAHARA and Demons Down followed, each less successful than the predecessor.

Several personnel and label changes sent House of Lords into hiatus, but recently an all new lineup burst back on the music with two new albums. The phenomenal World Upside Down was released in May 2006 and the nostalgic "greatest hits" Live in the UK was released earlier this year.

You can hear samples at www.myspace.com/fanofhouseoflords.

By the way, bassist Chuck Wright is back with Quiet Riot. He played on their massively successful Metal Health album. After an extended break from the band he returned for the recent Rehab.

Here's a video for House of Lords "I Just Wanna Be Loved."

Sahara is my favorite disc by these guys, but World Upside Down is pretty good too.

Here is my take on it, if you are interested:

I really like House Of Lords! The debut is good, but my favorite album from them is "Sahara"! "World Upside Down" is a good come back...

A very under-rated band. I think that they have put out consistently good product over the years.

BTW, don't forget, Chuck Wright played on QR III also!

Check out my original demo of " Wanna Be Loved " It's a 4 track insight to the song that you might find interesting!! I plan on releasing the 4 track of " Talkin' Bout Love " very soon as well. As a foot note, I co-wrote " Wanna be loved " and in Greg & Gene's usual way was forced to sign 100% of the publishing over to them. Now that in it's self was sleezy, but to not even get a copy sent to me in the mail with a ( thank you ) -- speaks volumes in my ears!! The bad blood became even worse when the song " Talkin' Bout Love " which I wrote alone and again, in order to get it on the record had to sign over 100% of the publishing AGAIN, came out with the names of several others mentioned as the writers!! Well, add onto the fact I never to this day recieved a copy of that record either - I'd say it's time these boy's owned up here!! This biz has nearly been distroyed by corporate mentalities and sleezy manuvers such as this!! Perhaps it's just another case of DOG EAT DOG ?? I won't worry about it much, they all know where that meal tickit came from!! And for my pleasure, so do I - right BOYZ!! By the way, check out COUSINHEAVY on YouTube.com you might even get to hear the rif that somehow ended up becoming the HOL's song " Slip Of The Tongue " - I never got paid anything for that one!! Ha ha!! Peace!!
