I'm Like a Ringleader, I Call the Shots

I'll be posting my list of the best albums of 2008 next weekend. One that will surely make the cut is Circus, dubbed Britney Spear's official comeback record.

Circus came out earlier this month - it's been in constant rotation on my iPod. The album is definitely Britney's best work: truly mature dance music. Yes, I like some dance music - no, it's not all bad. When you think about it, pop and dance music encompass a lot of the cornerstones of Glam: over-the-top videos and big stage shows. There are scantily clad women - and pounding drum lines. If you're open-minded, maybe you'll give Ms. B. Spears a shot. The world is bigger than your backyard, Poison and the Sunset Strip. Just saying.

Let the hate mail begin. I always love the nasty comments when we veer a little left of Motley Crue.

I'm not really sure what to say.. So instead I'll link a relevant video to Belinda Carlisle backed by Zodiac Mindwarp.

I think its great to be open minded, not only in music, but in everything...Britney is not really my cup of tea in music, but I do like a lot Pink, she has made one of the best albums of this year...so yes, I do listen also to music that is not in the strictly glam, metal corse.

Wow I thought this was a Rock N Roll Glam site. I cant believe your posting bubble gum dance music. Nikki Sixx would be ashamed of you. lol

You people are hilarious. When I saw that Allyson wrote this today I was sure that the ridiculous comments would begin. I am not a huge Britney Spears fan, but you have to respect the talents of a musician. Have you listened to yourself sing outside of the shower lately? Also, Let‘s not forget that Allyson writes this website every day for YOU to enjoy.

yeah hate to say it but i didnt like that.
Never liked Britney Spears, its its highly likely i never will.
I watched both videos, but erm im gonna stick with Skid Row and Motley for now.

well I don't really care for the tabloid b.s. that is Britney Spears I don't see this as a comeback. Press hype, marketing and being googled constantly about your latest debacle will always work to sell a few albums! I listen to some pretty diverse music outside of rock/glam but the best sounds I can imagine coming from Britney would be her moaning in my bedroom!!

Hey I have been listening to motley and all the strip bands since before they were big...People you need to be open minded and listen to all types of music you just might find something you like..tunnel vision in music is bad that is the reason that grunge killed off the strip in the late 80s...Keep Rockin Allyson and turn it up to 11 no matter what it is...Much Love

WOW, Britney Spears on Bring Back Glam?!
Probably the last thing that I would expect to see on here. If you like her Allyson, that's fine.
But does it really fit on here?

Britny Fuckin Spears, but you can't give DIRTY LOOKS props for the best album of the year in 'California Free Ride.' You are probably too cheap to buy it!

Instead we get stuck with this Bubble Gum pop dance shit, Fuckin Hinder, and Candle Box

please

If you can't cover Glam/Sleaze metal, then give it up

The only Britney I would buy is her getting railed from behind in a porn. You like this crap but slag good bands like Hinder? I dont get it. Review a REAL bands new album like Whitesnake for christs sake!

i don't hate her but this is definatly NOT her best work. besides.....theres a reason people don't like veering off of motley crue. thats kinda the point of this website. isn't this genre of music against things like this? all pop music is fat old men in suits trying to make money of off teenage girls. sick.

I don't check into BBG! as often anymore. No matter what artist or genre is covered, I truly admire the creator of this site. How many of us could think of something new to add, EVERY DAY? How many of us are going to come home from an exausting day at work and then STILL have enough energy to come up with something for BBG!? I don't care who the fuck is featured on here, as long as it's news of the musical world. If this was a pay site, you could bitch about things. It's not. You have no right to bitch.

I despise Britney Spears so much. She's the epitome of all things going wrong in the music business. Sorry, I just feel that way. She has simply no talent. I don't listen only to glam, but lots of other genres in metal like power metal, progressive metal, symphonic metal, meldoic and AOR. There is so much real and honest music to explore out there, I don't feel the need to listen to musicians created by the industry. Hard work is something that I prefer, bands that made it on their own, not girls casted out of highschool and stardom build by the media.

I like "Womanizer," but not so crazy about "Circus." I like a lot of Britney's songs...they are good pop songs, just like Motley Crue and Poison write. The Crue just uses distorted guitars rather than computer generated sounds for the music. I can totally see Lita singing "Womanizer" if the arrangement were slightly different and guitars were used.

I think appreciating and even liking music outside your comfort zone is a good thing. Yes, hard rock is my favorite, but I also enjoy "bubble gum pop" (check out the Ting Tings "That's Not My Name"...great song), old country (Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings), jazz, blues, classical, r&b and bluegrass. Not so much into the rap, but I can tolerate it in small doses and even find a few decent cuts here and there when I give it a chance.

I'll never play any of those other formats on my radio show, but you know what? It's MY radio show. If I decided to do it, I would have every right to do so. And this is ALLYSON's website. She has every right to post whatever she wants.

^ Yeah but when you call it "Bring Back Glam", I would think you kind of have to stick to one general thing wouldn't you?? At least ROCK...lol

But yes, you're right, this is Allyson's site. But everyone should have the right to voice their opinions, too.

I bet if you scored an interview with Hinder you would kiss their asses just like you do all the other bands that let you talk to them. This site has become a fucking laughing stock.
December 20, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRufus
agreed most of the bands on here arn't even all that 'glam' or even metal. I know of so many bands not even featured on here yet. Hinder is much better than britney spears. esp. thier newest song. it rocks.

and plently of peole have sites just like this that post everyday.
