FINALLY, someone with enough balls to put Chinese Democracy where it belongs...NUMBER ONE! Without prejudice the release IS the BEST of 08! Forget who it is, who they were, who is in the band, this disc is by far a great release!
Thanks Allyson!

Sorry to be a picky little tramp, but 'The Unattractive Revolution' was released in 2007, Xavier.

and go allyson! Black Tide's album 'Light From Above' is easily one of the best albums released this year.

Maybe it's me, but when did Brittney Spears qualify as either glam, metal or sleaze? Really? Not so much.

Hello,

yes The Unattractive Revolution was released end of 2007, but most of it was promoted and played on 2008, thats why I put it on that list,

10. Jørn Lande - Lonely Are The Brave - Don’t tell me, you’ve never heard of him. He has one of the best voices in music and a long list of albums released. Give him a chance and you will likely become a fan.

9. Motörhead - Motörizer - It sounds like Motörhead of old...and that’s a good thing.

8. Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual Flame - With Ripper Owens on vocals, Yngwie delivers his best album in years. The song "Red Devil" may be the best he has ever written.

7. Tesla - Forever More - These guys don’t get enough love from rock fans. Vastly underrated band, and this album is a strong effort from beginning to end.

6. Guns N’ Roses - Chinese Democracy - It was worth the wait. Now that the luster has worn off a bit, it slipped from the #3 spot on my list, but it’s still high quality.

5. AC/DC - Black Ice - It sounds like AC/DC of old...and that’s a good thing.

4. Lynam - Tragic City Symphony - These boys from Birmingham have a strong record with some Def Leppard-like hooks and sing-along choruses.

3. M.O.B - The Greatest Enemy - How in the world are these guys unsigned? Take note Mr. Record Company Executive, this is awesome rock.

2. Mötley Crüe - Saints Of Los Angeles - A strong comeback for the kings of the Hollywood strip.

1. Alice Cooper - Along Came A Spider - This album is already on my top ten list for the decade, and it is very close to the top.

Anyone who doesn't have "Forever More" in their top ten obviously hasn't heard it

Well I have 2 albums on that list in my Top 30 (Alice Cooper & Black Tide) but I don't think that Britney Spears would have made it!

I considered Motley Crue, GNR, and Buckcherry for the #30 spot but I ultimately gave it to Metallica. The Crue album was good but not great and the GNR was good but not as good as it should have been after such a long wait. I had a hard time excluding Buckcherry. I have been a fan of theirs BEFORE they released their debut and I thought BLACK BUTTERFLY was a solid record but there were better.

My problem is, that most of the albums I've been looking forward to came out late this year and I hadn't had enough time to really listen to them (Thunder, D-A-D, Steelheart and others). But without a particular order, my Top 10 of 2008 would look like this at the moment:

Black Stone Cherry - Folklore and Superstition
Whitesnake - Good To Be Bad
Tesla - Forever More
Avantasia - The Scarecrow
Alice Cooper - Along Came A Spider
White Lion - Return of the Pride
Journey - Revelations
Dokken - Lightning Strikes Again
H.E.A.T. - H.E.A.T.
House of Lords - Come To My Kingdom

no way is that for me. I bought along cxame a spider and chinese democracy, and they both sucked. Chinese Democracy isnt that bad i spose, but no.1? no way. SOLA definitely first for me, then Day & Age by the Killers and then Black Butterfly- Buckcherry.

and *shudder* Britney wouldnt be anywhere on my list.

Gonna have to check some of these albums out. I definitely agree with GNR at #1. I almost bought Sammy's album, but most reviews I've read have said it's average, at best.

I would have to list Metallica's Death Magnetic and Shinedown's Sound of Madness (you gotta here it)...as my two favorite this year
