Better Than I Remember...

I have to give credit where credit is due: Sweet F.A. is a whole lot better than I remember.

I'm clicking around YouTube, looking for some obscure Glam, when up pops Sweet F.A. "Rhythm of Action." This band rocks. My Glam goodness, I don't know why I haven't mentioned them before - except that I don't own either of their two "classic era" CDs. I guess that means I'll be spending my weekend filling my eBay cart!

This band formed in the late 80s in Indiana. You know, that state next to Ohio? I wonder if I've crossed paths with any of the band members before?

Lucky for me I'll get to see - and meet - Sweet F.A. at Rocklahoma. I can't understand why they are on a side stage...but I'll take what I can get.

Here's the video for "Rhythm of Action." It's kind of hot.

I'd pulled out the CD I have from them last night and listened to it for the first time in years. I'm very glad they will be at Rocklahoma. :D And I agree, when I saw them on the lineup for the sidestage, I thought 'Huh?'. I think they should open on the main stage or something like that. :)

I bought their second CD for like $1.00 off eBay years ago and couldn't really get into it. It was very typical although most people say their debut was way better.

I did publicity for these guys in Canada back in the day. Awesome dudes.

The debut is easily better than Temptation. I have to be in the right mood for Temptation, but STYG is always a good choice. The recent self released CD of early demo's (The Lost Tapes) is worth checking out too. The songs don't quite live up to what made it on the debut, but are a in the same style.

perhaps they are on the side stage because they were never that popular. of course there are other groups like that on the mainstage. i heard that dirty penny and the gypsy pistoleros wanted the side stage because they can go on later in the night to a larger crowd instead of playing early to a much smaller crowd. perhaps sweet fa feels the same.

Back when I lived in IN., it was a badge of pride to have those albums. It's good to see them getting back together. I was actually a bit sad that I'm not there any more to see the reunion shows. only for a minute though....then I remembered it was in Indiana.

btw - Price of the City is WAY better than Rhythm of Action

p.s. what's up with Steve's jean shorts though?

He's hot...but even he can't pull off those shorts!

actually, Sweet FA has a strong connection to Pretty Boy Floyd. They were the second of two bands signed by MCA A&R man Bret Hartman after he signed PBF as his first act. at this point in Rock history, every MCA band died, one after the other, including Floyd, Sweet FA, Cold Sweat (the third signee), Femme Fatale, Lord Tracym Bang Tango and countless others. Shame, too, Sweet FA's "Stick to Your Guns" is a spectacular song on what turned out to be an uneven CD.
