Songs About Mothers...

Happy Mother's Day!

I was trying to think of songs involving the word "Mother" or "Mama" in the title. Sadly, many of the little ditties have nothing to do with giving birth or raising a child. We'll say the connotation...is profane.

Still, my mom listens to rock music and isn't easily offended - so, without further adieu - my list of the best rock songs featuring "mother" in the title. Three cheers for holiday pegs!

1. "Mother" - Danzig

2. "Mama, Weer All Crazee Now" - Quiet Riot/Slade

3. "Mother" - John Lennon

4. "Mama Said Knock You Out" - LL Cool J

Ok, this one isn't rock. Sue me.

5. "Mama Told Me Not to Come" - Three Dog Night

Did I leave one of your favorites off the list?

Here is the PERFECT glam song for Mother's day!
Cinderella "Hard To Find The Words"...just look at the lyrics;

Mama sometimes I feel inside
Theres nothing I can say
Nothing I can do
Could ever match the love you gave
You taught me how to live
Told me walk before you run
And you were always there to pick me up
Everytime Id have a fall

And mama I know theres been times
When I didnt always understrand
By and by we do some growing up
And it makes just a little more sense
But sometimes its hard to find the words
But Ill do the best that I can
Thank you for the love mama
Its what made this boy a man

I know the roads been long
And I know youve seen some rain
Making the best of what we had
I never heard you complain
When I look in the mirror today
Wondering could I be as strong
Could I give as much to someone else
As you gave to your son

And mama I know theres been times
When we didnt see eye to eye
By and by we do some growing up
And we understand the reasons why
But sometimes its hard to find the words
But Ill do the best I can
Thank you for the love mama
Its what made this boy a man, yea

Many years have gone by
And Ive been living them the best I can

And mama I know theres been times
When I didnt always understand
By and by we do some growing up
And it makes just a little more sense
But sometimes its hard to find the words
But Ill do the best I can
Thank you for the love mama
Its what made this boy a man, yea

I'm sure when I cut in front of the BMW the other day that the lady behind the wheel told me to have a very "Happy mother day!" And it sure was such a day as I was driving to work.

Boyz II Men had "A Song for Mama"
Pink Floyd's "Mother"
Willie Nelson ""Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys"

And what about "Shaft"? You see this cat Shaft is a bad mother--
Shut your mouth!

“Motherless Children” - Eric Clapton

Mothership Connection...why didn't I think of that?

I thought my spaces would remain after the word mother to insinuate that the woman in the BMW only said half-a-word to me. She did shake her head at me as she sped past.

Samuel Jackson seems to like his mother a lot. He uses the word an awful lot in many of his movies.

The ultimate Mom's song in my opinion is "I'll always love my Mama" by the intruders from 1973.It is filled with love and relatables. You can hear it on youtube. There are 9, 6 and a 3:47 version. The shortest is very good. Enjoy, peace and love to all.
