Rock the Bayou?

croprockthebayou.jpgYou probably already know about Rocklahoma and South Texas Rock Fest (both in just 13 days!) but what about Rock the Bayou?

The inaugural Rock the Bayou fest is slated for Labor Day weekend of this year in Houston, Texas. So far, some Internet searches reveal Sammy Hagar and Warrant are confirmed for the event. A little more sleuthing leads me to believe that Queensryche, Ratt, Skid Row, Y&T, Firehouse, Gilby Clarke, Jetboy, Dokken, Great White, Enuff Znuff, Bulletboys w/ Steve Adler, Britny Fox, Little Ceasar, Alice Cooper,  Yngwie Malmsteen, Slaughter, Pretty Boy Floyd, Lizzy Borden, Black N Blue, Broken Teeth, Bret Michaels, Twisted Sister, Dangerous Toys, Lynch Mob, Tora Tora and more.

Random postings on ticket broker sites seem to point that tickets will go on-sale July 5th. To me, that is incredibly risky because festival organizers are only giving patrons a little over six weeks to buy. This could also mean the line-up is incredibly strong and ticket prices very reasonable.

The official website is Rock the Bayou and that domain is registered to the president of Online Tickets. Also visit the official Myspace page.

I'm really excited about this festival - even without an "official" lineup. I think fate intervened and kept me from booking another vacation (Cabo and Jamaica were the front runners) but now I have my heart set on Houston. Glam goodness I love festivals.

That's an awesome lineup, and for only $99! Man, I wonder if I might be able to pull that off?

It was amazing. The bands what a line up!! so many I can't list and all were great!! the threat of a hurricane that never came!! unbelievable!!.. I will be here next year..

The highlight of new talent was a band from Hollywood, CA Blacklist Union.. omg!! I can't get the song "say hello" out of my head!! they rocked so hard! I missed their show on friday and heard it was fantastic! On Saturday they played the Budwieser stage at 8 final band on that stage I immediately went and bought the CD right after the show!! Now I know what the buzz was about! the whole cd is AWESOME!!! in fact the Tour manager Joe gave me a money back guarantee if I don't like it I can get my money back. wow! what a statement!! In fact I just ordered 3 more for my friends!! I haven't felt this good about new music for a long time!! great job guys!! I LOVE IT!!!!

Also, Amber Lake from Rock of Love 2 introduced them on stage and was hanging out with band for the whole event, autograph signings, beer tent, everywhere with them... I think she likes Tony.. you can tell!

Amazing.. After the show, there is no chat about the concert. Wonder why???? Oh gee, maybe cause the venue sucked so bad? So Christian, in response to your big question

"The big question is, if these guys could pull this together this quick, what is Catch the fever's excuse ?"

They didn't.. Not even close. Anyone who went to both ROK and RTB won't be nearly as critical of ROK now that they've seen what a low class event RTB was. I'm not speaking of the bands. The lineup was awesome, the music could not be beat.Even the side stage bands were hugely talented. However, all four stages were going at once, so you had to miss out on a lot. The grounds were awful, lack of security, parking in an unlevel field getting car damage, lack of water, lack of shade, black painted floor, free beer before 6:00 but you can't take it out of the VIP (term used loosely) tent, hurricane season etc. all sucked. And only about 5000 people even showed up. I think 30,000 showed for ROK 07.. I can't wait til ROK 09!
